Review of Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch - 10K WD With Sway Control - BLU77FR

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox TrackPro weight distribution system with sway control. This is going to help level out your trailer and your tow vehicle. So, rather than having all of the trailer's weight pushing down on that one connection point between your coupler and your hitch ball, which can oftentimes cause your tow vehicle to squat in the rear end, which puts a lot of strain on your rear suspension system of your tow vehicle. This is going to help level everything out, so that weight is being evenly distributed across all the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer. more

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution system with sway control. Now, a weight distribution system is designed to help spread out the weight of your trailer across all of the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer. So rather than having the full weight of the trailer on that one connection point between your coupler and your hitch ball, which can often put a lot of stress on the rear end of your tow vehicle, causing it to squat down, putting a lot of pressure on your rear suspension system, this is going to help level everything out, so that weight is evenly distributed, giving you more control and support. This is going to have the built-in sway control, so it's gonna help keep your trailer in line as you're going down the road and thanks to the chain system here, we are gonna be able to back up our trailer, you know, even while it's connected. So unlike some of your other weight distribution systems, which cause you to have to get out, disconnect your system before you're ready to back up, this is gonna be a lot more convenient for you, especially if you're getting into the campsite late at night or something like that. more

So it is gonna give you greater stability and control as you're towing your trailer. So if you're not familiar with what a weight distribution system does, when you're towing a trailer, if you don't have a weight distribution system, typically, all your trailer weight is gonna push down on your ball, so that's gonna cause your vehicle to sag and all that weight to be on that one point. By using a weight distribution system, it's going to apply pressure back to the trailer so that that pivot point or that point of connection can raise back up, and your weight is gonna be evenly distributed between all the axles on your vehicle and your trailer. So that is gonna have a lot of benefits for you. It's gonna give you a lot more control, stability. more

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System. A weight distribution system is going to help with that problem that you probably have experienced where all of the weight of your trailer pushes down on your ball, on your hitch, and it causes the back end of your vehicle to sag, and the front end of your trailer to go down, so it's kind of like a V there at that connection point. A weight distribution system is going to have these two bars, which help to spread out the tension. And it's kind of like a wheel barrel so it lifts up on that back end to help raise that connection point so that all the weight is being distributed through the axles on both the vehicle and your trailer so that everything is going to ride appropriately again. Now this system is a really nice option for you. more

If your vehicle is rated for weight distribution and so is your hitch, this is going to help you to make sure that you get the most out of your components, out of your setup. Basically what it does is it transfers the weight from being put all on the back axle of our towing vehicle and evens it out so that we're spreading it out over all of our axles. That helps to reduce any kind of squat on the backend of our vehicle, which can make a big improvement to the overall handling, braking and feel of your vehicle while you're towing.A lot of people like to use these for their enclosed trailers, maybe a pop-up camper or some other type of towing that you're going to be doing and you are going to be going for a long way. more

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Reese Weight Distribution System. Now this is going to be a great option for those of you who maybe haul some smaller trailers. Even with your smaller trailers, you'll notice that as you put the weight in, all that weight is going onto your ball mount on your vehicle, which can cause the backside of your vehicle to kind of sag down. That's got several different side effects, one, the front end will probably come up causing your headlights to be in the eyes of oncoming traffic. It can also cause your steering to be kind of light there on the front end, as that weight is lifted up, your tires don't get as much traction. more

Shane: Hey, everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2014 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite Grand Touring Travel trailer, and I'm going to walk through how to install the Fastway e2 weight distribution setup. What are some of the reasons why we would want weight distribution One, when we load our trailer on our vehicle, it drops the back of the vehicle and raises the front of the vehicle. That can put a lot of unnecessary stress, back axle. Front end, it raises our headlights, tire wear, it messes with our steering, messes with our braking. It takes the nose of the trailer and it dips it down, which means, on a dual axle trailer, it's picking up the back axle so that you're getting most of your weight put on the front one. more

Review of Reese Weight Distribution - WD Only - RE34FR

Michael : Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com.Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Reese weight distribution system. Now, if you're not familiar with what a weight distribution system does, that's going to solve one of the major problems that we run into when we're towing. So if you've ever been towing, you know the effects that your trailer can have on the ride comfort. As you're driving down the road, you're going to be white knuckling it trying to prevent the trailer from swaying side to side if there's big gusts of wind, or if you're passing a semi-truck and it can reduce your steering control, bring your headlights up off the ground, there's a lot of different problems that you can run into. Weight distribution system is going to help with all of that.So if you look at this graphic, you can see, as our trailer is pushing down on our hitch on our truck, it's going to bring that front end up, which is going to make our steering light and bring up our headlights into other driver's eyes and things. We want it to be like that bottom picture, where it's nice and level so that we have full control over both the vehicle and the trailer and it's going to reduce the wear on our vehicle. more

Everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with shank. So this is going to be an integral part of our towing setup. And basically the idea with having weight distribution is, as the name suggests, it's going to distribute the weight across the axles of our setup. So from our trailer axle to our towing vehicle axle, and that helps to prevent a lot of issues that are commonly experienced whenever you're towing.A lot of times that point where the trailer meets your towing vehicle can kind of push down and cause some issues with your vehicle being pushed down. more

Review of Reese Weight Distribution - WD Only - RE94FR

Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at the Reese weight distribution system with included shank and a round bar design. So basically I'm just going to go over what is going to come in the kit and also why you would want to have a weight distribution system for your towing setup. So whenever you're towing anything on the back of your vehicle, if you're using a hitch ball, it's going to push down on that hitch ball and cause a lot of squat in your towing vehicle. That's just the nature of it, you're putting more pressure on that rear axle in your towing vehicle. And it can make your suspension wear out more prematurely, it can unbalance your vehicle, so instead of it sitting nice and level now it's starting to tip up with that front end going up, your headlights are starting to point up in the air, you don't have the same sort of connection with the road that you used to, so braking and steering can be effected, and just all around isn't too comfortable and it also really isn't too safe. So by having a weight distribution system, we're able to spread that weight out across our axles and our trailer and our towing vehicle equally so that we don't have that pinpointed weight all at the back of our towing vehicle. So it's definitely going to make the ride more comfortable, safer, we're going to be able to have more control with our towing vehicles. more

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, I'm going to walk you through how to install the Husky weight distribution system on your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Weight distribution is designed to take added weight from the back of the truck and put it back onto the trailer. The reason you want that is if you have too much weight on the back of the truck, it's going to sag the back of the truck. It's going to raise the front. You're going to get unnecessary wear and tear on your front tires. more

Review of Reese Weight Distribution - Weight Distribution - RP66021

Today we're going to take a look at the Reese Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System without the shank. It has a 10,000-pound gross towing weight capacity and an 800-pound tongue-weight capacity. Now this is a nice high-performance system, which is designed to offer the best in weight distribution with the easy-to-adjust forged head, nice raised ball platform and the flexible powder-coated steel trunnion spring bars. Now the tongue weight rating is your most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. Basically, if the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they'll create a rigid ride which can result in a bouncing trailer. And on the other hand, if the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless. So to determine the proper weight rating for weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight, then add the weight of any cargo that's behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.Combine those two and that'll make up your tongue-weight rating for a weight distribution system. more

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System Installation - 2019 Toyota RAV4

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Fastway E2 Weight Distribution System on a 2019 RAV4. Now when towing a trailer, adding a weight distribution system to your vehicle is going to serve a lot of benefits when towing a camper trailer like this. When towing something like this, what happens when you're going down the highway, if you don't have weight distribution, if it has a lot of tongue weight, it pushes the back of the vehicle down, pulls the front of the vehicle up, and it affects your braking, your steering, your tire wear. It also affects the rear suspension. And with pulling a trailer, you get a lot of sway movement when you're passing tractor trailers, maybe you get a cross wind or something like that.Adding a weight distribution system will transfer the weight not only to the trailer, but it's going to transfer it also back to the front of the wheels, brings the back of the vehicle back up so you get normal braking functions, normal steering, and your tires are going to wear more efficiently. more

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Installation - 2018 Heartland RV Pioneer TT Toy Hauler

Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to do an installation for you on the Pioneer RG22 Camper. We're setting it up with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution and Sway Control Setup. Now this one happens to be the 1,200 pound, 12,000 pound gross trailer weight setup. This one is a toy hauler, so it needs a little bit of extra weight distribution effect on the front to try to get everything balanced out properly. This gives us all of the weight distribution properties through a trunnion bar. I like trunnion bars a lot more than I do round bars because those tend to hang down kind of a lot lower and reduce ground clearance. more

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System Review

Randy: Hey, guys, Randy here at etrailer.com. Now, we get questions all the time from our customers. They're trying to figure out which is going to be the best weight distribution system for themNow, there are a few different types of weight distribution out there. The more basic set is something similar to like a CURT MV Set up. Just going to be your Trunnion bars that come back, no friction sway control whatsoever, you actually have to add that on secondary, and with that system you can't back up, so it's kind of an older more antiquated system.A lot of the systems, this one is the one we're looking at today. This is from Fastway. more

Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System Installation - on a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're going to be installing Reese's straight line weight distribution system with sway control. This weight distribution system is going to take the weight of your trailer and redistribute it from just being on the rear axle back here at the hitch onto both your front and rear axles. Now, you're asking, "What does this mean to me" Well, this is going to make your truck sit level. So it's going to have a lot of benefits. When your truck is loaded down in the back, it pops the front up. And that changes the geometry of your tires, and that negatively affects your handling and braking performance.By bringing it back down to center, your geometry for your tires returns to normal, so you're getting proper contact of your tires on the road. more

Curt MV Weight Distribution System Review- Video

Curt MV Weight Distribution System Review

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt MV Weight Distribution System with round bars, for the gross trailer weight rating of 10,000 pounds, and a tongue weight rating of 1,000 pounds. Overall, our weight distribution system is going to even the amount of weight over both of our truck axles, giving us back that level smooth ride that we expect. It's gonna cut back on the tire wear on both our truck and our trailer, as well as help with our steering and braking when we're going down the road. Now every hitch is gonna be a little bit different. But for the majority of them when they're used with the weight distribution system, it's actually going to allow you to maximize the full capacity of your hitch. Now, it's always a good idea to check with the manufacturer of your hitch to find those weight capacities, as well as your truck's owner's manual, to make sure your truck and hitch can handle that amount of weight. This system is designed for quick and easy maintenance. Right here on each side, there'll be a grease fitting, so that way it'll be really easy to keep everything lubricated. more

Lippert Components Weight Distribution - Sway Control Only - LC380605 Review- Video

Lippert Components Weight Distribution - Sway Control Only - LC380605 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Sway Command Electronic Sway Control System. Now, this system is designed for trailers with one to two axles, which would two to four break assemblies, and it is compatible with electric drum trailer breaks. Now this is an electronic sway control system that, ultimately, is designed to limit side to side movement of your trailer when towing. So this unit corrects the sway by activating your trailer's electric breaks. It's more effective than friction sway control systems by correcting sway before it really begins- or before it becomes noticeable. The unit features a solid state gyroscope which senses sway and activates all the trailer breaks simultaneously, and it has an accelerometer that monitors the speed and determines the appropriate break force needed to correct sway at that speed. It also comes with a light pod that mounts no the front of your trailer and signals the system, um, is functioning properly. So what that does is that allows you to look in your rear view mirror and see the status of the sway control system. Solid green illuminates when no issues are detected, and then various green and red light patterns signal when a fault is detected. The unit features a nice molded construction. more

Tuson Electronic Sway Control System Review- Video

Tuson Electronic Sway Control System Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Tucson electronic sway control system for trailer brakes. Designed to work for one up to four axles. The part number is 335TSC-1000.Now our Tucson sway control system has been designed to constantly monitor our trailer yaw. There's an accelerometer inside that can sense when our trailer starts moving side to side in those sudden onset sway events and will use the trailer brakes to get ahead of that and correct it. Essentially what it's going to use is a proprietary algorithm that can determine the difference between a quick steering situation, like if we're trying to avoid some trash or some debris or something like that on the road, or whether we're in one of those quick onset situations where our trailer is really getting out of control. When it senses the latter, when we're starting to lose that trailer control, this is going to send a signal through the purple and the pink wire, to either the left side or the right side of the trailer, that does this with its superior processing capabilities. This is going to be able to take all the critical elements needed and figure out exactly how much pressure, how much force, should go to each side of the trailer, and in what rhythm and in what pattern to get this under control. We can head down the road, and we won't have to worry about those sway events that can be quite scary and without the proper sway control system, requires a lot of immediate action from the driver to get it back under control. This system handles all of that for us. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be installing Reese's Weight Distribution System, part number RP67509. This weight distribution system is going to take weight off your rear axle and reposition it evenly onto your front axle. This'll help restore breaking and handling performance that was lost due to the load. Additionally, it'll help level out your headlights. With that extra weight on the back, it tilts your headlights up, reducing visibility at night. This will also help increase that nighttime driving safety. Also, this is going to return your vehicle back to its normal alignment. more
