If you have a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and you're looking at trying to take your bikes from point A to point B, but you wanna save your hitch for other accessories, or you don't have a hitch reducer so you can get your bike racks mounted on here, then a tailgate pad is gonna be a much better option for you. So let's check it out. Like I was saying, your hitch is probably gonna be too large for any other types of standard bikes because right now we have a two and a half inch hitch receiver. And even if you did have a hitch receiver that did work with your bike racks, I'd recommend saving that for something else if you had a trailer or anything else that you wanted to take with you, especially if you're planning some larger or longer camping trips. And what I also like about a tailgate pad is they're just really easy to work with. more

If you have a 2017 Ford F 250 and you're looking at something to carry your bikes from point A to point B, but you want save your hitch for something else and you don't want your bikes just to be thrown in the back of your bed willy nilly, then the Kuat Huk full-sized tailgate pad is gonna be a great option for you. So let's check it out. But like I said, this is a great way to carry your bikes from point A to point B. Like I was saying, you can use the bed of your truck to carry your bikes and I think that's a great way to move them. Now the only issue with that is your bikes can get caught up in one another. more

Adding a bike pad to the back of your pickup could be a solution to allow you to get multiple bikes out for your journey on the back of your truck in the easiest way without anything really hanging from the back of your hitch. So a tailgate pad is a great way for your truck to utilize the truck bed to hold your bikes. It's an excellent alternative to a hitch on bike rack because typically these tailgate pads are a lot less expensive, so a little bit more budget friendly, but they can hold more bikes and the paramount is no different. You can hold up to seven bikes here. So if you need to get a lot to your destination, this is a good way to do it and it's gonna keep them upright so you're not just tossing them into the bed in a jumbled mess where they're gonna be running into one another and potentially getting damaged on your drive. So the Gatekeeper is gonna be a five bike carrier, having the five cradles that you're gonna strap your bike down to, to keep it in position. So, officially, what you're gonna do, to attach your bike, you're gonna hook that one end of your cradle to the other, and this is all padded, and then you'll be able to make your adjustment, as far as how tight you would like it to stabilize your bike, using your strap. If you have a bike that you wouldn't wanna make contact with your frame, it definitely wouldn't be the best option. However, it's a really good option, as far as moving multiple bikes, using your pickup without a hitch carrier. more

This fork mount rack is going to let you carry one bike with a thru-axle in your truck bed, SUV, or trailer, or even use your vehicle's utility track. And just to talk about that utility track installation briefly, the included hardware that you see here and the Torx key is going to let you mount this carrier in your truck bed's utility rack. And you're just going to insert the plates that you see here into the track and then pass the Torx bolts through the mounting holes on the rack and then thread them onto the track plates and slide the assembly anywhere along the utility track and tighten the bolts with the provided Torx key. more

Now this is gonna be a great option for trucks since it sits on your tailgate pad and it's very easy to use but since it just sits on your tailgate pad, it doesn't have a weight capacity. But keep in mind, if you want to put any heavier bikes up here like your e-bikes, it might be kind of hard to lift it up that high. Another thing to note, we're gonna have one strap down point just right on the frame. So we don't recommend using any carbon frame bikes. Something I do like about this pad is that it has these adjustable straps, if needed, you can actually take these straps out completely and move it over to another location. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about the Yakima gatekeeper tailgate pad on the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The gatekeeper's gonna be an excellent choice for the Tacoma because it's gonna be able to hold up to five bikes at once, which is a lot of bikes, especially compared to a lot of bike racks that are mounted on your hitch. 'Cause a lot of times they can usually only accommodate up to four bikes, and if they can hold a lot of bikes they're gonna stick out by a ton. Now, something else I do like is the way it holds your bikes up in an organized way, rather than, if you kind of just threw your bikes in the bed they'd be kind of bumping each other, and scratching one another up. So those are definitely great features about this pad. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. And today we're gonna be talkin' about the Kuat Huk half-size tailgate pad on the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. Somethin' to note, it's gonna have the ability to hold up the two bikes and it doesn't have a weight capacity, so you can even accommodate your heavy e-bikes. Now, keep in mind, lifting up those heavy E-bikes will be kind of a struggle. It's gonna have one point of contact on your frame and that's gonna be tied down with that strap there. So, we don't recommend using any carbon framed bikes on here just in case it damages your frame. more

Yakima GateKeeper Tailgate Pad Review - 2023 Jeep Gladiator- Video
Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we'll be talking about the Yakima GateKeeper tailgate pad for mid-size and compact vehicles on the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. What I like about this carrier is it's unique to trucks. Since it hooks on your tailgate, that's gonna be nice if you're already utilizing your hitch or you don't want to and you don't wanna deal with the extra length that a hitch bike rack gives to your vehicle. What's nice is that it utilizes the space in your bed so you can hold up to five bikes at a time with no weight limit. That's gonna be nice to accommodate those heavy e-bikes too. As for how it's going to secure to your pad we're just gonna have this strap here with this hook here and that's gonna secure your bike to your pad. more

Now this is a bike rack, or a bike tailgate pad that I've personally used, and this is actually my truck the one that I've used it with. So I've got a lot of opinions. Hi everyone, Aiden here with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Huk half tailgate pad, and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now the Ford Maverick has a short bed, and that leaves you with not as many options for truck bed bike racks. If you've got a hitch, you can always put a hitch bike rack in, but truck bed bike racks are gonna be a little bit more cost effective and a little bit easier entry for some people that are just getting started with one or two bikes. Now the problem comes into play where the bed is short and a lot of times, you have to have the tailgate open in order to make those options work except for tailgate pads. So the Huk is going to be a really solid option for a tailgate pad. more

Does it Fit? Testing the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for Truck Beds on a 2022 Ford Maverick- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Ford Maverick. It's gonna be a truck bed bike rack that clamps onto the side of your bed rails, allowing you to carry up to one bike up to 33 pounds. So on the Maverick, in theory, you could put one on either side, and that's gonna be true for any truck you put this on. You'll have to pick up another set of the clamps, because it only comes ready to go for one, but that is gonna be a limitation of this style, is that you are limited to the number of sides you have on your vehicle, which is two. So if you need to carry a lot of bikes, I would recommend something like a tailgate pad. more

Hey, everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Huk on our 2021 Ford Ranger. Now, this version of the Huk is going to be considered the mid-size one, but it is going to cover the full length of our tailgate here on our Ranger. Now, the Kuat Huk is going to be a tailgate pad that can accommodate up to five bikes. If you're looking for something to carry around maybe not as many bikes, there is the half pad version, which only covers up maybe about 1/3 of your tailgate, but it can only accommodate up to two bikes. But this version able to accommodate up to five bikes is a really nice thing, especially when you compare it to some of our hitch-mounted bike racks. more

Today we have the half-size one on today, which can help accommodate up to two bikes. If you are looking for something to carry more, they do make a full-length one for the back of trucks like our Ford Ranger, which can help accommodate up to five bikes. But if you don't need to carry around that many, the half-size is going to be a perfect solution for you. more

Hi, I'm with etrailer, and today we're gonna talk about the Kuat Huk mid-size tailgate pad on the back of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. In order to take a closer look at a lot more of these features, first we wanna remove the bike. First, we're gonna take this strap and the clip and just pull up on the clip and pull the strap through. Now all I have to do is lift up on my bike, take it out. And now we can take a closer look at our pad. If you look here, we have all these hook on points with these straps and then that's just so we can move these straps from one point to another. more

So this allows you to carry up to six bikes. You put your bikes in your truck bed, but then you have the front wheels out on your tailgates. This pad is gonna be more, one of your more premium carriers, which provides cushion for your tailgates. You're not scratching anything up, but you're also providing a stable surface for your bikes. more

Hi, everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima Gatekeeper Tailgate pad, and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Nissan Titan. Now it's gonna be a good way to transport up to six bikes on a full-size truck, like your Nissan Titan. A tailgate pad, in general, is a great way to transport lots of bikes because they generally have larger capacities than a hitch mounted bike rack, which tend to top out around a four bike capacity. You can certainly get some that will hold up to six bikes, but they're very specialty and they're gonna cost a lot more too. more

So if you're looking to carry a large amount of bikes this is gonna be a great way to do it.
