So the main reason I always recommend using a charge wire kit is so your batteries not drained down whenever you get to your destination. And that happens because nine times out of 10 the vehicle braking system that you're using actually draws power from your vehicle's battery to operate. So every time you apply the brakes and that breaking system activates it's gonna take a little bit of juice from your battery. So let's say if you don't stop every now and again and start up your car with that battery charge up or if you're on a multiple day trip, leave everything hooked up and you get to your destination unhook your vehicle. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Demco charge wire kit on a 2013 Cadillac SRX. Now normally on this installation of a charge line, this is something that you're gonna wanna do when you're installing the rest of your flat tow components, especially your diode wiring, because this ties into your six pole. So having it ready to go one time is definitely the best option. But our neighbor here has their flat tow set up, and they have a mobile braking system, and they realize that, well, the car has to stay in accessory mode so it's gonna drain the battery, because it uses the 12 volt power. So in order to make sure they don't have to start their vehicle to get the battery charged back up, the charge line's gonna be the best option. This is gonna pull that 12 volt power from the seven pole on the RV, and make its way to the sixth pole. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Demco Battery Charge Line here on our 2022 Ford Escape. So a battery charge line is one of these smaller components of your flat tow setup, but it is a requirement here for the Escape because your battery will drain when you're towing it behind your motor home. So if you don't find a way to charge that from the motor home while you're driving, you're gonna arrive to the campsite with a dead battery, which is not something any of us want. So the battery charge line circuit is gonna hook up to the positive battery terminal here on the vehicle. So the battery's actually in the trunk, so we're hooking up to a positive terminal here on the engine bay. And then it's gonna consist of a wire that runs to the front of the vehicle, and then through the umbilical cord to the motor home. more

Whenever you're flat towing your vehicle down the road, what can happen is your battery can get depleted. All right And that's because some of the systems on the vehicle are using battery power. A lot of stuff is electronic nowadays and is very voltage sensitive and the braking systems, whenever those are being turned on and you're hitting your brakes, those are also using battery power, so what can happen over time is the battery get depleted and eventually run flat and then you got kind of a headache on your hands, right And so that's where a charge line kit like this one here is going to come into play. What'll happen is it'll use auxiliary power from your motorhome 7-way, send that amperage back and essentially trickle charge or maintain your Escape's battery. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Demco Charge Line for towed vehicles on a 2023 Ford Ranger. Charge lines are something that I recommend to just about anyone that's flat towing a vehicle. Unless you have a battery disconnect and even sometimes with the battery disconnect, you wanna make sure that the battery of your towed vehicle is not going to start to dwell once you're towing it, and then when you get to your campsite you end up having to jumpstart your vehicle. Just to save yourself that little bit of headache I think the charge line is worth it even if it saves you from having to do that once. And the reason being is it's very simple to put in place. You wanna make sure you're doing this at the same time as your diode wiring because it's pretty simple. more

So this particular battery charge line is gonna be for the towed vehicle. Most of your motor homes or your towing vehicles are gonna come with one, so you don't have to worry about wiring anything up on there. So essentially what this does is this is gonna be a lead that connects from the vehicle's battery here, and it's gonna be ran to the trailer connector, most likely a six-way trailer connector. Those are certainly the most common. You will need one that's gonna allow for that extra pin, so four ways are out the window, only seven and six ways. more

Hey, everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2021 Jeep Gladiator, I'm going to walk you through how to install a charge line kit for Demco's supplemental breaking system. The charge line kit is not a part that is necessary when flat towing a vehicle. However, I always recommend it because your braking system is tied to the battery, if your vehicle is shut off you have no way of charging your battery, but the braking system when it activates the brakes or applies the brakes, it's pulling some power from the battery. With the charge line kit, it's going to run from the battery up to the six pole plug on the front of the vehicle so that when you're running the motor home and it's attached to the vehicle, the alternator on the motor home is going to trickle charge your battery while it's being towed. So as the power is being pulled from the braking system, or pulling the power from the battery to activate the braking system, the motor home is charging the battery that way when you get to wherever you're going, your battery is going to be charged and ready to go. more

This is gonna help you prevent that by giving a trickle charge from your RV to your vehicles that's being towed battery so when you get to your site, your battery isn't dead. The way this works is after you plug into your RV and you have your 12 volt constant power coming from that, it'll come through your umbilical and then run up to your charged vehicle into your six-way plug. more

Charge line is definitely a great addition to your flat towed vehicle. And the reason being is your vehicle, generally during the flat towed mode, is gonna be inaccesory, so there is a slight battery draw and after a long journey, the last thing you want to do when unhooking your vehicle is have to jumpstart it. The charge line just simply takes 12 volt power from the front plug, the six pole on the vehicle, and runs to your battery, allowing it to trickle charge as you drive. So pretty simple. They have a ring terminal already attached, so you put that to the positive battery terminal. more
