How to Install a Wiring Harness for a Trailer on a 2007 Hyundai Sonota

This part also fits 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The first thing we need to do is open the trunk and take apart some of the interior lining. First well show you one of the access points for the wiring on the passengers side. Just take off this cover here, it unscrews, comes down, and its kind of hard to see but right here at this point is where we take apart the harness and install the T-1 connector. Simply push that button in and it comes apart. Before we can make our connection this panel has to come off and this panel here has to come off because we have to run the wire harness all the way across to the other side. To take off this panel here, theres one plastic rivet on each side of the panel. Once you get those taken out, gently pull up on it on both sides and maybe under here with a pry tool and the whole thing comes apart like that.

Now that we have our access point, we take this part here, the T connector, and we can sneak it up behind this carpet here up through here to make our connections. Pull some of your excess back through, push it out of the way for a handy spot, and put your cover back together. Now repeat it for the drivers side, also on this side there are more wires so why dont we take of this route here, well pull our carpet and give us more stretching room to get inside there. Well open our panel here, disconnect it, and well take the drivers side connector with the yellow and brown and well attach it up here. The next we need to do is take this ground wire and run it to the body you can either screw it to the sheet metal here, if you do that try to go between two pieces of sheet metal as it is thicker amount of metal and more steel for the screw to grip to. The other thing is we found a ground point already built into the vehicle. What we can do is take this wire and peel it back from the harness and pull it down here and bolt it into place there. Once you have it grounded we can put the fabric back where its supposed to be and take up our slack. Were almost there and we can put that back together. At this point it would be a good time to take the wires and zip tie them to the original harness going across the vehicle. What will happen next is well route our wires down out of the way. Next point we need to do is mount our converter box, theres a nice open area here so well use this flat area using the self adhesive and stick it there.

Go ahead and clean the area first to get most of the dust out of there. Now we have it stuck in place and well take these excess wires and zip tie them to make it nice and neat. Now we can put the back panel back in its place. You can store your four pole in here when youre not using it, and when you do use it you simple pull it out over your trunk and shut the door on it. When you shut the trunk you can see theres plenty of room for it to move if it has to. Now we can put the rest of our fabric material back inside. Optionally what you can do, since theres a nice little notch there, you can leave part of it out and lay it under your carpet too. That concludes our install of part # 118433, on our 2007 Hyundai Sonata.
