Today on this 2008 Chrysler Town and Country we will be installing part number 118552 from Tow Ready. The first step involved is to open the rear hatch so we can remove the tail lights and get to our connections. We have to remove these two screws here and here. With the driver side done, we will repeat this process on the passenger side. When pulling the lights, gently rock them back and fourth to loosen up the push pins, then pull out. :28
Now we are going to disconnect the tail lights. To do this we are going to unlock them by moving this red tab up and then pulling off the connectors. Now we can begin installing our wiring harness. First off, we will route our 4-pole to the bottom of the vehicle, through the opening between the tail light and the bumper cover. This will be followed by the T-One harness with the green wire. Next, we will take the white wire with the ring terminal on it and ground it to the sheet metal here. Now we can attach our harness with the yellow and white wires to our tail light harness. 1:05
With our connections on the driver side made, we are going to route our black power wire to the bottom as well. And then connect it to the open red wire on the modulite box. We will be using a butt connector provided in the installation kit. Our last step on the driver side is mounting our modulite box. First, we will clean and dry this area here so the adhesive on the module will stick. Now we can reattach the tail light. We have moved underneath the vehicle where we will mount our 4-pole to the center of the trailer hitch and tie it off there. Then we will take the green wire connector and route it to the passenger side. To make sure the wires stay in place, we will use some zip ties in a few areas. With that down we will pull our green wire up through the tail light and make our connection. There will be some excess wire here, so we will use a zip tie to keep it nice and neat. Now we will reattach our tail light for the passenger side. 2:10
We are back underneath the vehicle for the last time, routing our power wire to the front of the vehicle. Be sure while you are routing to avoid any hot spots or pinch points like the exhaust or suspension components. We are underneath the hood of the vehicle now, we will pull our black wire through and route it to the battery. Take some zip ties to hold it in place as well. Next we will cut it to length and cut our fuse holder in half, attaching a butt connector to one end, and a ring terminal on the other. We will attach our black wire to the butt connector and a ring terminal to the positive side of the battery. Once our connections are made we will put some electrical tape around the butt connector to protect it better. All that is left is to test the 4-pole. There you have it for part number 118552 from Tow Ready.
