How to Install a Wiring Harness for a Trailer on a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on this 2003 Chrysler Town and Country we are going to install 118376 from Tow Ready. Our connection point is actually behind the taillight on the driver side. We are going to go ahead and take out these two plastic rivets, make our connections, then run our 4-pull to the inside of the vehicle, and it will be stored in the jack storage compartment when we are not using it.

Okay so lets get started, take out our plastic rivets, the light comes off relatively easy. You have to push the lock up towards the top where it unlocks it, then squeeze it, and it comes right apart. Next what we are going to do is modify our grommet here, because our connection points are going to be pushed behind the far wall here. So go ahead and take out the grommet and make a split in it and just remove the grommet. Next we are going to take our 4-pull end and push it back inside here. There is some installation stuff like that you probably have to work your way around. Then we will reach around from the inside, fromthe jack storage compartment, and pull it out.

We will go ahead and put the converter box inside too. Okay and we will go back behind the tail light and make our connections. We will plug them together, make sure you push that lock back into place because it can come apart. This assembly will go back here, make sure you keep your ground wire out, so you will end up with one plug and a ground. We will take our grommet and put it back together around the remaining wires and snap it back into place. Then we will ground our terminal here to the sheet metal below. Then we can go ahead and reinstall our tail light.

To use the wiring harness all you need to do is pull it out, put it over any part of the trim here, just stay away from the latch, and you can go ahead and shut your hatch onto it and pull out the length you need to get down to the trailer hitch. That way that harness is not sitting outside all the time and will not be subject to corrosion. And that finishes it for our part number 118376 from Tow Ready.
