How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 1999 Pontiac Montana

Today on this 1999 Pontiac Montana we are going to install part number 118355 from Tow Ready. This is our T-1 wiring harness. The first thing we need to do is get in the back of the vehicle and get behind the access panel on the driver side. Pull out this panel right here, there is this plastic panel behind that, this is the part we are going to have to remove. Towards the back we should find our connector that will match up. :31

One thing you will notice about this connector, sometimes there will be another half connected into it which is the rear AC, or it could be hooked up to something else. Sometimes you will find it loose just like this. The T-one connector can work with or without both halves. We will tuck that back into place, then we need to find a spot for our ground screw. There is a piece of sheet metal straight back this way, that we can go ahead and attach to that. :55

Next we will find a place to mount our converter box. We will use the adhesive on the back here and attach it to the sheet metal behind it. Then we will pull out our 4-pole wire harness. then we are going to put this pocket into place and leave our wire harness hang out the bottom. Then we will push our plastic rivets back into place. When we are not using it we can store everything inside of here. When we do need to use it we will pull it out, pull it out to our hitch. We can shut the door on it because the door seal here is thick enough where it will not damage the wire. Just make sure you stay away from the latch itself. After it is shut you can pull it out as much as you need. That will finish our install of part number 118355 from Tow Ready.
