Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee. We're going to be testing the Yakima Full-Tilt. This is a folding and tilting 4 bike rack, designed for use in inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitches. Part number is Y02462. Now to begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of the hitch. As we slide it in, we'll want to be sure our anti-rattle device slides in with it.
We're going to push until the small silver pin appears in our pinhole. I then like to pull it back just a little bit to give us as much clearance as possible. Then we'll turn the red triangle shaped knob here at the rear. This is going to engage that anti-rattle device, further securing the rack to our vehicle. It's a good idea to kind of lift up and down on it a little bit. Move it left to right some.
It's going to be sure that we get all of the play that's in that rack out. Now the rack will offer us about 8 1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. Closest point of it to the back of the vehicle will be there, and that's about 6 1/2 - 6 3/4 of an inch. Overall we've added about 11 1/2 inches to the length of the Cherokee. Now the black lever that's located here on the rear of the rack. Pulling that allows us to fold the mast away from the vehicle.
As you can see, this is going to give us full access into the cargo area. We'll now raise this back until we hear it click into position. Then we'll pull the red lever that's located here at the top. That allows us to swing out the dual cradle arms. Again, wait for that to fall back into place, indicating that we've got it mounted in the proper spot. Now with the arms extended, we've now added about 36 3/4 of an inch to the length of the SUV. Each cradle is going to have 2 grey levers.
You want to pull on those simultaneously, and then take out the strips. With all 3 cradles exposed, we'll now grab the bike. We're going to place it right up into the rack. We'll start securing it using our strips. Just like that, we've got our bike loaded up. We're ready to hit the road. We'll take it out, let you see what it looks like going through our slalom course, our alternating bumps, and our straight bumps. That will complete today's test fit of the Yakima Full-Tilt, part number Y02462, on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee. inaudible 00:03:33 .
