Review of the Thule Ladder Racks on a 2017 Ford F-150

Today, on our 2017 Ford F-150, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Ladder Rack, part number TH500XT. This has a carrying capacity of 450 pounds, and it clamps onto your truck bed using the clamps provided. They also do have locks available, as well, so you can secure this to your truck bed. Now, to make it adjustable to varying truck bed widths, you can loosen up these two bolts at the top on both sides, and that'll actually widen it or narrow it, however which way you need. The bars themselves are aerodynamic in shape to cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving, and it does come with these stoppers to hold down your loads, whether it be ladder racks, lumber, or anything else you might be hauling. We have these fit dials here, which you would turn to the left to loosen them up on both sides. Lower them to whatever height you need.

I'll go ahead and open up the truck bed. I want to show you how to install one of the clamps. Another thing I like to point out is it does come with these pads here. Now, these are mainly used for, if you don't have a protective covering over your truck bed, you put this in between the leg, or the foot, excuse me, on the truck bed, and that'll protect your truck from getting scratched up. Now, we'll take our last clamp, loosen it up a little bit. You put the clamp on like so.

It's very easy, just sits on there. Then, put it up and under and over. Then, we'll just hand tighten it first and then finish tightening up with our tool here. Now, you can use an Allen key, or you can use a ratchet tool. Just make sure it's 7/32 in size.

All right. Now, we'll take our tool. That's nice and tight. Finally, we'll take our locking mechanism, install that as well. At this point, you would lock it into place and secure the rear side.

There you have it for the Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Ladder Rack, part number TH500XT, on our 2017 Ford F-150.
