Review of the Thule Trunk Bike Racks on a 2016 Nissan Juke

Today on our 2016 Nissan Juke we're doing a test of the Thule Gateway XT trunk mount 2 bike rack. That part number is TH9006XT. We already have out bikes secured down. First I'm going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 straps. We've got 2 on our frame and one as our anti sway strap in the back.

I'm going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release those. Then we can pull our bikes off and set it off to the side. With that out of the way we're able to move on to some measurements. First is going to be over all of adding to our vehicle. It's going to be about 11 and 3/4 inches. We do have the option to actually rotate our arms down.

We're going to open up the grey lever here on the side. We'll come around and we'll wiggle our arm back and forth. You will see our arm coming loose from the groves here on the inside. That's going to allow us to rotate the arm down and lock it into place. We'll do the same thing here on the other side. Again just loosening it up and wiggling that arm.

That locks into place, so now we're only adding about 6 1/2 inches to our vehicle. As to how our trunk mount is secured down. We have 6 straps all together. 2 over the top portion of our hatch. 2 to the sides just under our tail lights and underneath the bottom portion. We also have these nice foam pads at the bottom and at the top that going to prevent any scratches or abrasions.

One thing to know is we won't be able to use our rear whipper blade while this is installed. As for how we adjust this to fit our vehicle. We have our 2 levers here on the sides. We want to make sure we squeeze those and we can adjust this however we need to. We've got it set to 9 today. The Thule fit guide does have all the fits for all the other vehicles like this by Grak fit. It's going to be our completed look at the Thule Gateway XT part number TH9006XT. On our 2016 Nissan Juke.Speaker 2: Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pot hole or driving over uneven pavement. Finally we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action which is just like driving out of a parking lot garage or driveway.
