Today on our 2016 Ford Expedition, we'll be doing a test-fit of the Thule Gateway XT 2-Bike Rack Trunk Mount, Part Number TH9006XT. Now, we have a bike on our rack and we have a rack hooked to our vehicle. Just going to show you a few features of it. The first feature I'd like to show you is how the bike is connected to the bike rack itself. We have a total of three straps. We have the two up top and we have the anti-sway strap on the side. That's going to keep the bike from swaying, so it won't damage your vehicle or your other bikes.
We're going to go ahead and take these off first. Take off the anti-sway strap. Now, we can remove our bike. It's always a good idea to go ahead and replace your straps so you don't lose them or damage them. We'll just do that first. All right.
Now, we're going to take one measurement just to show you, overall distance, what we've added to our vehicle. I'm looking at 19 inches. Now, the cradle arms here, they do adjust. By pulling on this lever here, and you have to unloosen it, bring it down. You can bring it down or bring it up to whatever position you want.
We're going to bring it down. All right. Do the other side also. All right. Now, we're going to add one more measurement. That's going to be 9 inches now.
How the bike rack is connected to our vehicle, we have a total of 6 straps, each of them has a hook with a rubber coating so it don't damage your car. You have the two up top, you have two to the side, and we have two underneath. Now, the two up top, they have their individual cam buckles that loosen and tighten here, but the two on the side they each got a cam buckle that actually tightens the side and the bottom also. Now, we have our two pads up here that's going to protect our window and we have two pads underneath our door handle here. Now, the only thing I can tell you, you cannot use your rear wiper when your bike rack is engaged. One thing about the 2016 Ford Expedition, the inaudible 00:02:21 is 11. You see here, all the numbers is actually set for 11 now. That's going to complete our look at the Thule Gateway XT 2-Bike Rack Trunk Mount, Part Number TH9006XT on today's 2016 Ford Expedition. Let's see how it does on our test course. Here it is on our test course. First is the slide area, which simulates side-to-side action by turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next, are the alternate speed bumps which show you the twisting action like hitting a pot-hole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally, we are at the solid speed bumps which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out your driveway.
