Review of the Thule Ladder Racks on a 2016 Ford F-150

Today on this 2016 Ford F150 we're going to be test fitting the Thule Xsporter Pro adjustable height truck bed ladder rack, part number TH500XT. This rack does have a weight capacity of 450 pounds. It can carry anything from lumber, to ladders, to conduit pipe, whatever you may need for the job site as well as water sport carriers. You can tie them down using these adjustable tie downs by loosening up these knobs. You can slide them up and down to the t track to wherever you may need. This is constructed from a nice solid aluminum and it also has a nice aerodynamic shape on the bars to ensure there's going to be less wind noise and drag while you drive. It does fit varying truck bed widths by loosening up two allen head bolts on each leg and making your adjustments. It also is adjusted by height with these quick dial knobs, which you can see these large black knobs on each foot.

You loosen those up on both sides and you can lower it to wherever you may need. You can go by these numbers on the inside, which tell you what height you're at. How it attaches to the truck bed: you're going to have two clamps per foot, on each of them and you just tighten them down, also with allen head bolts. All of them are size 7/32. Let's go ahead and show you how the last two go on here. I'm going to go ahead and open up the tailgate so you can see a little bit clearer.

This truck bed does actually come with a truck bed liner, however if your truck didn't have one, it does come with these pads that you can put underneath the feet to ensure that it doesn't scratch or mar up your truck bed rails while you install it. How the clamps work: You're going to be using the c clamps, I'm going to loosen this up a little bit more. This bracket goes on top of the screw. I'm going to lift up and under. I'm going to hand tighten it at first, get it loosely tightened, and then we'll come back with our ratchet to finish it up. That's good.

Same with the last one. You notice that this one looks a little bit different with the clamp, with this little metal piece, that is actually going to fit a lock around it, so this will lock to your bed. We have one installed up here. Going to take our ratchet with our 7/32 allen bit and go ahead and tighten it down. I guess it was a little bit looser than I thought it was.

We'll do that with the last one as well. We'll install our lock. Turn the key, it's locked up and you're ready to go. There you have it for the Thule Xsporter Pro ladder rack, part number TH500XT on our 2016 Ford F150. .
