Review of the Thule Archway Trunk Bike Racks on a 2010 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2010 Ford Taurus, we're doing a test fit of the Thule Archway XT Trunk Mount 2-Bike Rack. That part number is TH9009XT. We already have our bikes secured down. We're first going to start by showing you how we secure it in place. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 straps, 2 on our frame and 1 is our anti-sway strap in the back. We're going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release those.

Then we'll be able to pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way, we'll take a few measurements. First is going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle. We're going to have about 14 inches added. Now we do have the option to rotate our arms down for easier storage. I'm going to open up this clamp here, loosen that up just a bit, and we'll wiggle our arm back and forth until it comes loose from our grooves here. Rotate that arm down and secure it back in place.

The same thing on this other side. Loosen that up. Wait till it comes loose from those grooves. Rotate it down. We'll re-secure it in the grooves.

Just like so. Now we're only adding about 9 inches to our vehicle. As for how our bike rack is secured down, we have 6 straps altogether. We have 2 over the top portion of our trunk, 2 to the side, and then 2 underneath the bottom portion. We also have these pads down along the bottom and along the top that are going to help prevent scratches or abrasions from your rack onto your vehicle. You do just want to make sure that you clean underneath those areas before securing this down. As for how we adjust this to fit our vehicle, on either side we have these 2 gray levers.

We would just push on those and that's going to allow us to adjust this however we need to. You'll note that we have it set to fit dial number 8, there are many different settings on there, from 1 to 11, that will accommodate different vehicles that you may have and you will have the entire fit guide with your bike rack. If you did want to use this with another vehicle, you could as well. That's going to be our completed look at the Thule Archway XT Trunk Mount 2-Bike Rack, part number TH9009XT on our 2010 Ford Taurus.Speaker 2: Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the inaudible 00:02:46. This is going to show us the side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Finally we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
