Review of the Thomas Payne RV Jackknife Sofa

Hey there, cozy campers. Today we're going to be taking a look at Thomas Payne's RV jackknife sofa. You can get these in either Oxford Walnut or Cobble Creek, which we have displaying here today. They also can come with or without legs. If you do opt for the leg kit, you get a baseboard with that, as well. Thomas Payne's jackknife sofa is a sit and sleep option.

It easily converts from the sofa you see here to a bed with one easy step. It's large enough to sleep one adult or a couple of kids. Now, I will say, after laying on it you can definitely tell the difference between the firmer seat cushions and the softer backrest cushions. It is a little awkward at first, but I could still fall asleep on it.As a couch, it also has a folding center console with two cup holders. One thing customers don't think about with a jackknife sofa is all the storage space that you have below it.

This is a great place to keep your pillows and blankets, so when you want to covert to a bed they're there, and if you have any other bags or clothing items they can store down there, as well. The Cobble Creek color comes with an easy to clean woven fabric. If you've got the Oxford Walnut, that will have an easy to clean Euro PolyHyde leather. The cushions sit on a steel frame. We've got ours bolted to the platform below it.

If you purchase the leg kit, you still have a sturdy steel frame below it and the sturdy steel legs will support it.We currently have the non leg kit sofa installed in our RV, due to how it mounted. It mounts directly to the platform below it on our RV. You can see the existing baseboard from the previous couch that was here, and we did not replace it because it didn't come with our sofa. If you opted to buy the sofa with the leg kit, you'll get a baseboard included with those, and even if you have a setup like this, you could choose not to use the legs and then take the baseboard that comes with it and install it, replacing your original one. For demonstration purposes, we won't be installing our baseboard, but it's good to know that you have the option to ensure that your couch seamlessly integrates into your RV and everything matches. Now, you're probably wondering where can I fit this in my RV I've got some dimensions to help you on that decision.

The overall dimensions are 62 inches wide, 28 inches deep, and 23 inches tall. As a bed, it measures 60 inches wide by 42 and a half inches deep. In order to convert your sofa from sitting to sleep mode, you'll want to make sure that you have at least one and a half inches of clearance between the wall and the top back of the sofa, and nine inches from the wall and the bottom front of the sofa. If you've got a platform in your RV like we do, a jackknife sofa's really your only option. So this is a great unit for updating the interior of your existing RV or for replacing a damaged unit. If you don't have a platform, then picking it up with the leg kit is going to make a great option to add some additional seating and sleep area to your RV.Your couch will come shipped to you in a box just like this. We'll go ahead and remove our couch from the box by lifting up on the top half. Your couch comes as one piece and will easily fit through any RV door. Once inside, we can set our couch into place. If you purchase the kit with legs, you would install those now. If you purchase the kit without legs, you would simply provide your own hardware and use that to attach it to your base. Use some self-tapping screws and go right down to our base here. There are several pre-drilled holes in the side of the frame to make it easy to have plenty of options for your inaudible 00:04:10 mounted. If you purchased a unit with legs, you can now hang your kickboard on it, and now you're ready to relax. Thanks for hanging out with us and checking out Thomas Payne's RV jackknife sofa.
