Review of the Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Bike Racks on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to be doing a test fit of this Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted 2-Bike Carrier. This will be part number S64702. A few things I'm going to go over before we get it up in there. Make sure that you unlock your lock here by simply turning it and making sure it's in the unlock position. You push in and then you'll turn it, so unlock it, and then we'll press on the lever. This will allow us to collapse it like so, and then this will be our tensioner when we get it in the truck.

The next thing we're going to do is extend the end when we're ready to get it on the vehicle to fit the size of the bed. This can be extracted by pressing in that button there and pulling it in. Let's get it in the vehicle. We're going to fit it to this side here, the same point on each side that way we get it in the right spot. Then, we'll extend out the end to meet the other side of the bed rail. Make sure it's in the same spots on both sides and then push down.

Once we get it to that point, all we do is lock it and take our key with us. It won't come out of the vehicle and it'll be nice and secure. For our skewers here, these are where our forks of our bike will go inside and you can tighten it and loosen it by this, and then we'll tighten it down with the key here. So loose and tighten, and you'll see that that goes in and out. Let's go get our bike and get it mounted up in here. Once you have your bike, make sure that you have your front tire off because this is a fork-mounted bike rack.

Go ahead and bring the forks up and set them right in to the grooves there. They'll sit on top of the skewer, and on the inside of these bolts here, on the inside of these nuts, there'll be teeth. I'll just unthread this and show you. There'll be teeth that actually grab on to your bike fork and secure it in place. Go ahead and tighten it up and then simply turn it.

Once you have it tight and it'll secure the bike in place. Now, just be mindful if you do have fiberglass forks like on this bike, that you don't want to go super tight because it could damage your forks, but if you have metal forks, you can put it on tight. There we go. We're nice and secure and ready to hit the road. Now, that you've seen how the Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted 2-Bike Carrier, part number S64702, looks and fits on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, let's see how it does on our test course. Here you see it out on our test course. First is the slalom, which shows the side-to-side action to simulate turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternative speed bumps, which show you the twisting action, such as hitting a pothole, road debris, or going over a curb. Finally, we will finish with the solid speed bumps, which show the up-and-down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out of a driveway. .
