Today on our 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack, part number S63380. We have a bike on our rack, and we have our rack hooked to our vehicle. Just going to show you a few things. How we have our bike connected to our bike rack is simple. We have a total of four straps. We have these four here, three up top, and we have the one to the side, which we call an anti-sway strap. That's going to keep the bike from swaying, so it won't damage your vehicle, or if you have other bikes on your bike rack. Let's go ahead and take off the three up top first.
Then we're going to take off our anti-sway strap. If you're loading your bike, you just do it the opposite way. Remove our bike, set it off to the side. We're going to go back and put our straps back, so we don't lose them or damage them. Now we're going to take a few measurements. The first will be overall distance we've added to our vehicle.
I'm looking at 33 inches. For our ground clearance, I'm showing 15 1/2 inches. Then for our closest to our bike rack, we're going to show 6 inches right here. The cradle arms do fold down. What we want to do is pull in, pull this pin and clip, bring them down. We're going to insert the pin and clip here.
Now, once again, the overall distance has changed, so let's go ahead and take another measurement. We're looking at 16 inches. If you need to get into your rear hatch, this has a tilting feature. What we want to do is, we're going to unscrew that. Take out this pin, let it rest. Then when the bike rack is in this position, you'll be able to get in and out of your hatch, so if you need to put anything in or take anything out, you should have no problems.
Let's close this back up. Bring this back up. Insert that, tie that back down. There we go. Today we're using the 2 inch hitch. This is also equipped for a 1 and a quarter. It does come with an anti-rattle bolt, so that's going to help keep some of that movement out as you're driving down the road. That's going to complete our look at the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack. That part number again is S63380 on today's 2016 Chrysler Town & Country. Here it is on our test course. First, is the slalom area, which simulates side to side action, like turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps, which show you the twisting action like hitting a pothole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally, we've got the solid speed bumps, which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out of your driveway.
