Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Today, in our 2015 Toyota Tacoma, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack, part # S63380. I have a bike on a rack and we have a rack onto our vehicle. I'd like to show you a few features. The first feature I'd like to show you is how our bike is connected to our bike rack. We have a total of 4 straps. We have 3 up top, and the 1 on the side, we call our anti-sway strap, that's going to keep the bike from swaying to damage your other bikes, or your vehicle itself. So we're going to take these 2 off, the 3 up top first, then we take of our anti-sway strap and we remove our bike.

And if your loading, you just do the opposite way. Set this to the side. And it's always a good idea to put back your straps so they don't damage or loss. So, I'm going to do that first. All right. I'm going to take a couple of measurements.

The first 1 will be overall distance we've added to our vehicle, and that's going to be, I'm looking at 36" here. And for our ground occurrence, right up under here, that's going to be 20 1/2". Then our closet point, that's going to be right there, and that's 8 inches. The cradle arms do come down, so we have to do is pull our U-Bow here, swing it around, we insert the U-Bow, or the inaudible 00:01:40, I'm sorry, and now we can take 1 more measurement. Overall distance now, I'm looking at 19". Say you need to get into your tailgate, this has a tilting feature.

We take out the panning clip here, unloosen the black knob here, turn it sideways and just bring it down. When bike rack is in this position, you should be able to get into your tailgate, but this actually touches so I don't want to go any further. My hand is holding it up so I just want to keep that in mind. If you need to just put something in, you can hold it with 1 hand and have no problem. But if not, I wouldn't do it - damage your vehicle.

I'm going to put this all back up and insert that, tighten this back now. Here we go. Today we're using a 2 inch hitch. This is also adaptable for 1 1/4". We also are using a anti-rattle bolt end clip, so that's going to help keep the movement out of your shank as your riding down the road. That's inaudible 00:02:44 look at the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack, part # again is S63380 on today's 2015 Toyota Tacoma. Let's see how it does in our test course. Here it is in our test course. First is the solum area, which simulates side to side action, like turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps, we'll show you the twisting action along like hitting a pothole, road debris or hitting a curb. Finally, we have the solid speed bumps, we'll show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming of our driveway.
