Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2015 Toyota Sienna

Today on our 2015 Toyota Sienna, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4-bike rack, hanging style. That part number is S63380. We have a bike on our rack. We have our rack hooked to our vehicle. We're going to show you a few features of it. How we have our bike strapped down on our bike rack, we have a total of four straps. We have three up top, we have one to the side, which you call our anti-sway strap.

We're going to go ahead and remove the top ones first, then we're going to do the anti-sway strap. If you're loading your bike, you just do the opposite way. Anti-sway strap first, then the three on top. Now we can remove our bike, and I'm going to just set it off to the side. I always say, get in a good habit, if you have any straps on your bike rack, go ahead and replace them so you don't lose them all or you don't get damage. So we're going to do that first. What I'd like to do first is to take a few measurements just to show you overall what kind of distance we added to our vehicle.

I'm looking at approximately 31 inches. Then our closest point, we'll be to the knob here, that's 5 inches. Then for our ground clearance, if I come right here, I'm looking at approximately 10 inches. The arms do come down, so we're going to show you how we do that. We have our pen and clip on here, so we're going to pull it. There we go.

Then we can bring our arms down. Insert the pen and clip. Now we're going to take one more measurement just to show you overall now. Overall, with are arms down, we're looking at approximately 17 inches. This also has a tilting feature, so if you have to get in and out your hatch. Down here, there's a black knob, you want to turn this to loosen it up.

What that's going to do is the little bracket there, as soon as we get it loosened up we can turn our bracket sideways. Then we're going to pull our pin and clip here. Now we can bring it down, and you can see now, if you need to get in your hatch, you have plenty of room on both sides. If you need to put anything in or take anything out, it's a nice feature. We're going to go ahead and replace it back up. Put back that pen and clip first. Then we put our bracket back to where it was and we're going to tighten it down. Once it's nice and snug, we're going to go down here and just let you know, now, this is equipped for 1 and 1/4 or 2 inch hitches. Today we're using a 2 inch hitch. It does come with a anti-rattle bolt and clip, so you would take some of that movement out of your shanks as you're riding down the road, so you should have a smooth ride inside your vehicle and outside your vehicle. That's going to be a look at our Swagman Trailhead 4-bike rack. Part number again is S63308 on today's 2015 Toyota Sienna. Let's see how it performs on our test course. Here it is on our test course. First is the slalom area which simulates side to side action, like turning the corners, or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps which show you the twisting action like hitting a pot hole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally we're at the solid speed bumps, which show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming out of your driveway.
