Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2015 Hyundai Accent

Today on our 2015 Hyundai Accent we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4 bike rack hanging style. The part number is S63380. I have a bike on or rack, and I have a rack hooked up to the vehicle. We're going to just show a few things first. First I want to just show, with the bike on the rack, you actually get inside the trunk. I want to show that first.

Now keep this in mind, this is just a regular racing bike. Now if you have a mountain bike, your handle bars may stick out, so just be careful just in case. Now with our rack here, this particular rack, it holds 4 bike racks, but we're using a class 1 hitch, so it can hold up to two. How we have this bike held on, we have a total of four straps. You got three up top. We have one through the side.

That's our anti-sway strap. We're going to go ahead and remove all these. Do the top ones up first, top. Then I'll do the one to the side. If you we're loading your bike up you do the one to the side first, which is your anti-sway strap.

Then you load the other ones on top. I'm going to set the bike out the way. Always replace your straps so they don't get damaged or lost, so we're going to do that first. There we go. All righty. Now I'm going to take a few measurements just to show you overall the length on our vehicle we've added.

From the bumper out to our cradle arms, I'm looking at approximately 36 inches. Now our closest point, right here to the black knob, that's 5-1/2 inches. Then our ground clearance, I'm looking right there. I'm looking at approximately 13 inches. Now the cradle arms do come down. Let me go ahead and show you how that happens. We have pin clip here. I'm going to pull out. Bring our arms down. Replace the pin clip. Now the distance has changed just a little bit, so I'll just go ahead and take another measurement there. Overall now I'm looking at 19 inches. This has a tilting feature also. If you come back here, I'll show you what we first do is unloosen this black knob here. That's going to make our bracket turn sideways. Then we're going take our pin and clip, and pull up, and we can bring our bike rack down. Now this down, you also can get inside your trunk also. You got plenty of room on both sides. I'm going to go ahead and put this back up. Here we go. Put in our pin and clip. Then come back here and tighten up our black knob here, so the bracket is against our inaudible 00:03:13. Now we're using, like I said a class 1 hitch, and that's an inch and a quarter. With this down here, we also have a anti-rattle bolt and clip. That'll keep out some of the shank, but this also equipped for 2 inch hitches. We have an adapter that comes with it. We just took it off. That's going to be it for our look at our Swagman Trailhead 4 bike rack hanging style. Our part number again is S63380 on today's 2015 Hyundai Accent. Let's see how it performs on our test course. Here it is on our test course. First is the slalom area which simulates side to side action like turning the corners evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps which show you the twisting action like hitting a pothole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally we got the solid speed bumps, which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming out your driveway.
