Today on our 2015 Dodge Charger we're going to be doing a test fit of the Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier. This is going to be 23 inches wide by 60 inches long, and it has a two inch shank that's going to attach to our two inch receiver. Now keep in mind that our hitch pin and clip are not going to be included, so if you'd like to obtain one of those you can get it on our website part number PC3. Now this cargo carrier is going to be part number CC-100. It's going to offer a solid steel base, actually a real sturdy steel base with a corrugated steel bottom. It's going to have a 500 pound weight capacity, so actually real sturdy.
Let's go ahead and get a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be our first measurement from the back end to the front side of the rack, it's going to be about half of an inch. When you're stacking your items up the back, you know how far they're going to sit from the back end of your vehicle. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be about 23-3/4 inches. Now that's going to be the back distance, so you know when you're parking, or if you're backing into your garage how far that's going to rest back. Our ground clearance is going to be about 5-3/4 inches here at the back side.
Actually, it might be a little bit shorter now that I see that bolt underneath of there, yeah, about 4.5 inches to the bottom side of that bolt. Just keep that in mind when you're going through dips or any low ground clearance areas. Let's go ahead and get the measurement from our exhaust in case you're going to be carrying anything that's going to be heat sensitive or perishable. Now our exhaust does tuck back up in here a ways, so let's go and get that measurement now. Looks like it's going to be about 8-3/4 inches to the edge of our cargo carrier.
That is dual exhaust on both sides, so it will be the same. Now if you're going to be stacking your items up real high you won't need to worry about that trunk since it is going to come straight up in line with the bumper. You're not going to have any conflict with it outside of there. Now that we've seen the Stromberg Carlson 23"x60" Cargo Carrier part number CC-100 on our 2015 Dodge Charger, let's go out and see how it does out there on our test course. Here you see it out on our test course. First is the slalom, which shows the side-to-side action to simulate turning corners or evasive maneuvers.
Next are the alternating speed bumps, which show you the twisting action such as hitting a pothole, road debris, or going over a curb. Finally, we will finish with the solid speed bumps, which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming out of a driveway.
