Review of the Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2014 Toyota Venza

Today on our 2014 Toyota Venza, we're going to take a look at the Stromberg Carlson cargo carrier. Part number is CC-100. Now I have it already on our vehicle. The dimensions are showing are 23, 23 by 60, and it can hold up to 500 pounds. It's made out of sturdy steel. You see that it has the mesh bottom so it keeps out the debris and dirt.

We're going to go ahead and take a few measurements now, show you overall the distance we've added to our vehicle. From the bumper out to the end of our cargo carrier I'm looking at 28 inches here. Our closest point, I'm looking right here, that says 4 inches. Then for our ground clearance, I'm looking right here, it's approximately 11 inches at the screw. Now while the cargo carrier is in this position, which is the only position it's in, I'm sorry, we can get in and out of our hatch as you can see. But we also have a breaking point, so I'm going to show you that first.

I'm looking at approximately 21 inches, so just keep that in mind when you're loading your cargo carrier, 21 inches still get in and out of your back of your hatch. Now, the exhaust on the Venza has dual exhaust, one coming from the driver's side, one coming from the passenger's side. They're both pretty much sticking straight out, so if you have any heat sensitive material on the edges you may want to move them toward the middle just to keep that in mind. This is equipped for two inch hitches only. It does not come with a pin and clip.
