Today, our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be doing a test fit of the Stromberg Carlson 23 by 60 Cargo Carrier, part number CC-100. This cargo carrier has an expanded metal bottom, to allow your debris and such to fall through, has a flat steel side that comes up. We've got about 3 inches of all the way around to keep your stuff from falling off. We're going to do some measurements. First one we're going to get would be your ground clearance from the lowest point, which is about 10 inches. This cargo carrier will hold 500 pounds.
Now, the added overall length to the vehicle is right about 28 inches. Point of closest contact is going to be about 4 and 1/2 inches. The Dodge Grand Caravan has a driver side exhaust exit that blows straight back, so we'll get a measurement from that to the closest point. It's right about 8 and 3/4 inches. You may want to take care to place your heat sensitive items to the middle, or to the passenger side, just so you don't have any problems with your stuff. Let's try and open the door, so we can see that it passes without any problem.
Now, we'll measure the break over point, that will be the point to which your load on the back would contact the gate, which is right about 14 and 3/4 inches. If you have any taller bulky items, you might have to move them out of the way to get the gate open. This uses a 2 inch receiver, does not come with a hitch pin. They are available separately on our website, part number PC3. That's going to be our look at test fit of the Stromberg Carlson CC-100 Cargo Carrier on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan.Speaker 2: Then, you see it out on our test course.
First we'll go through the slalom, which will show you the side to side action, such as making turns, or evasive maneuvers. Next, we'll show you the alternating speed bumps, which will show the twisting action, like you might have seen going over uneven pavement, or hitting a pothole, or maybe running over a curb. Last but not least, we'll go over the solid speed bumps, which will show you the up-and-down action, such is going through a driveway, or parking lot.
