Review of the SeaSucker Roof Rack on a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Today, on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to look at the SeaSucker Monkey Bar roof rack system. As you can see, we have the front one installed here to give you an idea of how it will look on the truck. We'll kind of go over some of the features here. The crossbars are made out of an aluminum. They're an inch and a quarter round, and they're four foot wide. Now, they're held into place by your SeaSucker vacuum cups here, which are adjustable inside and out. That way, you're able to find that good spot on your roof to keep them nice and secure.

They're very easy to use, and very lightweight, which is one of the great benefits about this roof rack. That way, you can change it, change vehicles, or take them off or put them on very easily, and it's not a big hassle. There's no permanent modifications you need to make, which is always nice. Now, the cups are made out of a softer material, that way you don't damage or scratch your vehicle's finish, and each cup offers 210 pounds of pull strength, so you can rest assured, they're gonna stay attached to your vehicle. Like I said, we have the front one installed. The rear one installs very similar, so I'll go ahead and show you how to do that now. Now, before you install your roof rack, you're gonna want to make sure that your vehicle's surface is nice and clean, which we've already done here.

And you're just gonna want to wet down the cups here with a little bit of water. And carefully place it on your truck's roof here. Another good thing about these is you can adjust the spread of your crossbars to accommodate whatever accessory you might be carrying. So that's another good feature we have.So the first thing we're gonna do, like I said, is set them on there, and we're gonna want to make sure that the bars are parallel. That way we're nice and square.

So we just take a quick measurement on each side. Go from the center of the front bar, to the center of the rearward bar. I'm gonna go ahead and say 33 inches, is what we're gonna use today. I'll just hop over on this other side, make sure we're good to go. Looks like we're pretty good there. And I should mention, too, to make sure you don't place the cups on any chipped paint, or on any seams.

And that way we'll make sure we get a nice, good seal. All right, now that we're all lined up, very simple her. All you have to do is pump this pump here. You'll notice this orange band. You just pump that until the orange band disappears. Sometimes you might have to push down just a little bit, to get some suction going. There we go. That one's fully seated there. Go ahead and go to this side. There we go.Now, this roof rack system can support up to 150 pounds. You're gonna want to be sure and check with your Colorado's owner's manual to make sure your roof can support that. Give it a good tug here, to make sure we're nice and secure, which we are. And with that being said, that'll conclude our look at our SeaSucker Monkey Bar system on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado.
