Review of the Saris Hitch Bike Racks on a 2017 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're doing a test fit of the Saris Freedom EX Platform style two-bike rack, part number sa4412f. Now we already have our bike secured down, and we're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're gonna come to our rack and push down just a bit on the rack, and pull out on our lever down here. When we pull out, we're able to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle. In this position we are gonna gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. What's great about this rack is that we won't have to worry about taking anything off, and we can still see an in between the vehicle and the bike rack to get out those larger items. We'll close our hatch up, then we can lift up on our rack and that locks into place. Now, how our bike is secured down here at the back, we have a cam buckle strap. We're just going to push on the gray cam on the opposite side and pull that strap through.

Same thing on the other side here at the front. We've got a cam buckle strap, pull that through. And then here in the center, we're going to have a wheel . Frame cradle, excuse me. This is going to hold our frame. It's going to be cushioned with a cushion strap.

Once again, that will be a cam buckle strap. We're just going to push on the black here at the top, and pull that through. Then we can pull our bike off of our bike rack and set if off to the side. Now a great thing about these cradles is that they are fully adjustable. We can move them up or down to grab different portions of our bike. And that's going to help to accommodate different bikes like, children's, women's, or alternative frames as well. Now we'll take a few measurements here.First there's going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle.

It's going to be about 23 1/2 inches. Ground clearance, we're gonna have about 21 inches, and our closest point is going to be about 11 inches away. Now we do have a few different positions we can put our rack into. We're going to pull out on our gray pin here. We can tilt our or mast all the way down. We're gonna use our strap to hold it into place.

And then we can tilt our bike rack up against our vehicle using that same black lever at the bottom. Tilt it up and this is going to be great for close quarter situations.Like, parking, or just whenever we're not using our bike rack with our bikes. In this position, we're only adding about 16 inches to our vehicle. At the back here we've got about 17 inches of ground clearance. And, our closest point is going to be about five inches away. Now as for a hitch, this is designed to work with both inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. We have our anti-rattle bolt and lock down there. That lock's going to help prevent theft and tampering, and that anti-rattle bolt when completely tightened down is going to help keep a lot of shake and play out of the bike rack as we head down the road.So that's gonna be our completed look at the Saris Freedom EX Platform style two-bike rack, part number sa4412f on our 2017 GMC Acadia.
