Review of the Saris Freedom-SuperClamp Hitch Bike Racks on a 2014 Ford Fiesta

Today on our 2014 Ford Fiesta, we're doing a test fit of the Saris Freedom Super Clamp 2 Bike Rack Platform Style. That part number is SA4025. We already have a bike on our rack. We'd like to show you a few features of it. Like I said, it's called super clamp. See that we have here a frame wheel clamps on the front wheel and on the back wheel.

We also have a single strap that's holding down our back wheel in place in that wheel cradle. We're going to take this off first, has a button over here, just push it, and you can pull it out. Now, to disengage the frame hooks here, press the button here. Bring it up. Then we're going to move it out the way.

Press the top button here. Push out like so. Always hold on to your bike. Once again, disengage it. Push the bottom, and push out.

Now we can take off our bike, and we're going to set this to the side. Now what I say is if you have any clamps on your bike, always want to replace them first, so we're going to do that first. While the bike is in it's position, bike rack, we're going to take a few measurement just to show you overall how many inches it will add to your vehicle, and I'm looking at approximately 24 inches. The closest to our bumper, I'm going to the same one of the wheel carriers here, and that looks like that's 11 inches. For our ground clearance, that's approximately 8 inches. All righty. We can fold down our mass, like I said, by pressing the yellow button on top.

Pretty much pull, folds all the way down. This one also does too, and while it's in this position, since we have a hatch here, we can get inside our hatch real easy like, so if you need room, you've got plenty of room on both sides of your bike rack to put anything in or take anything out. Also with this, this is equipped for 1 and a quarter and 2 inch hitches. We are using a 1 and a quarter today. It also comes with a anti-rattle boat and a lock, so that will take out some of that play and the shake as you're riding down the road. Here it is on our test course. First it he slalom area, which simulates side to side action, like turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps, which show you the twisting action, like hitting a pot hole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally we're at the solid speed bumps, which show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out your driveway.
