Review of the Rola Roof Cargo Carrier on a 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon

Today on our 2013 Subaru Outback we're going to be test fitting the Rola roof-mounted cargo basket. This is designed to fit onto factory or existing factory crossrails. Its part number is 59504. To begin our test fit we'll simply place the cargo basket right up onto the crossbars. We'll want to adjust them kind of as you can see to where we've got our crossbars sitting just in between two of the parallel running bars. We'll then take our black plastic spacers, place them in between the two parallel bars being sure that they sit right on top of our crossrails. Then going to go around to each of the four corners, place one of our spacers in, and with all four of them in position we'll now take the flat metal plates, place it right over the top. We'll do this over each of the four spacers.

Now we'll take a quick look just to be sure we have it in the center of our vehicle. Yeah, that looks good. We'll now take one of the black rubber-coated u-bolts and we're going to completely one of the wing nuts from it. We'll bring it around the underside of the crossbar, slide it into the slot on the front side, and then up through the slot on the back side of our metal bracket. We'll then tighten down both of our wing nuts to secure that rubber-coated u-bolt up around the underside of our crossbar, securing this corner of our basket to our Subaru. With that one secure we'll move onto the next one here. We can repeat that same process.

Slide the slot up through the front. With the two clamps here on the passenger side secure we'll make our way around to the driver side and continue placing our u-bolts into our clamps here. Thread them on down. These cargo baskets are really nice about helping you free up some space inside your vehicle, allowing you to take your pets, kids with you whenever you're going on trips and such. It also has the included fairing on the front there. That's designed to help reduce the wind noise that you're going to have.

Also help to get back any gas mileage that we can. All right, with the front and rear tightened down on both sides, we're ready to load our basket with the some gear and we can hit the road. That will complete today's test fit of the Rola roof-mounted cargo basket, part number 59504, on our 2013 Subaru Outback. .
