Review of the RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks on a 2019 Nissan Armada

Hi guys. Adam with etrailer.com. Today, I'm going to be doing a test fit on the Rocky Mount WestSlope platform style bike rack, on the back of our 2019 Nissan Armada. So this bike's going to be able to hold two bikes. And also, it's going to have two different tie down points, and two wheel cradles per bike. So, this back wheel cradle right here. It's a zip tie style strap, that basically just tightens down as you pull down on it and you can release just by pressing this little lever right here and feeding that through. On the front, it actually has this arm that tensions down between the top and bottom.

It squeezes your wheel into place. So, your frame's actually not even touched in this whole entire bike rack, which is very desirable for people who have high end bikes, carbon fiber bikes, that they want to make sure their frame is nice and safe. So, let me just go ahead and take this bike off for you and show you easy it is. Like you saw, I took this one off first, because this arm kind of holds it in place. So, when you have this one left, you want to make sure you put a arm on your bike, press this little blue tab down, and it comes loose, and you can lift your bike right off.I always try to replace my straps when I'm not using them and always remember to rotate this back in this way, just so it's not hanging out a little farther than it needs to be.So, let me get some measurements for you. On the back of our Armada, it adds about 37 and a half inches to the back of your vehicle, but if you want to cut that down a little bit, you could always tilt it back up.

But, before that, let me show you how it enables you to get into your rear hatch without having to remove this bike rack. So you can get whatever you need out of there, helmets, gear, your lunch for the ride. You won't have any issues accessing anything in the back of your Armada. But, like I said, it does tilt up to cut down on that space behind your vehicle. There's a little blue lever right here. All you want to do is just pull that up, and will snap into place like that.

And what that does, is cut down your length to about 10 inches. Now looking down here at out shank, obviously, we're not losing any spacing from the ground, so it just goes straight out which gives you about 21 inches from this point right here. You're closest point to your bumper, I would say, is probably that curved part of your shank right there, which is a little under nine inches. And as you can see right here, it does have a little sleeve that's put onto the end of the shank which makes it compatible with these two inch receivers, but you can also take this hitch off and it will be compatible with any inch and a quarter hitch receiver. so, if you have multiple cars you want to fit this on, this will definitely be able to do that for you. Also, there is a anti-rattle bolt back here, and what that is, is it basically threads through your hitch and sucks this little shaft in here from your bike rack to that hitch, so you have no shake and play. I'm really shaking this thing and the whole car is really moving. So, you won't have any rattling going on there.Well, that's going to do it for a look at the Rocky Mount WestSlope bike rack on our 2019 Nissan Armada..
