Review of the RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks on a 2014 Toyota Prius v

Hey, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at how the RockyMounts GuideRail two-bike platform rack works with our 2014 Toyota Prius v. This is gonna be a very quick overview of how these two products, or how these two things work together. If you want a full review, check out my cool video right here at etrailer.com on the product page. Now, I think this is a very great pairing with the Prius v if your focus is ease of use and not having to stress about your bikes.

Especially since this has a front and rear wheel mount, it makes it very fast for you to take off your bikes. All you need to do is flip two levers, one and two. And now, you can just push this out, push that out. And just like that, you're ready to hit the trails. So that took like what, 10 seconds Then so, compared to other bike racks where you have straps, you got levers.

This one just has those two mounts plus the easy to use levers. I also like with the Prius v how it doesn't sit too high up off the ground. You do have a 60 pound weight capacity with this bike rack. So, when you're lifting extra heavy bikes, you only have to lift them 25 inches for here and 22 1/2 inches for the other side, which makes it easier. You can also open up your hatch with the bikes off.

You can tilt this bike rack away. I like the lever underneath, especially compared to the MonoRail. An upgrade there. You tilt it down to open up your hatch with the bikes on and then you fold it up to be all secure. Also, it folds up very compact on the Prius v.

Our back up camera sits above the tray. So, what's gonna happen is when you go into reverse, you'll be able to see the bike rack in your view, but you'll also be able to see a bit past the bike rack and still see the cars and the view behind you, which is really nice to see. Now, depending on what type of hitch you have, I have the two-inch hitch here on my car cause I like the extra capacity. But if you have the inch and a quarter, you can also get this bike rack with the inch and a quarter hitch. If you don't have a hitch, you can find one right here and use our fit guide to get the right fit for you. This is a premium rack. So, it is at a premium price, but also has those premium features where you can lock your bikes, lock the bike rack, and it's easy to use. If you want something that's a bit more affordable, maybe check out the RockyMounts MonoRail. I use that with this car a lot too cause I still have that visibility. It's more of a matter of how quickly do you wanna get to the trails and how much effort do you wanna spend. But this right here was a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail two-bike platform rack on the 2014 Toyota Prius v..
