Review of the Optronics Trailer Tail Light

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics Trailer Tail Light, part number STL70RB. For comparison, on the right, you can see our old, incandescent tail light, and on the left, you can see our new Optronics LED tail light. It features 48 DOT approved LEDs, and because it's LED, it's going to be more efficient, and there are no bulbs to replace. It's a 6.5 inch oval LED trailer light that has three functions. It has your stop, your turn, and your tail lights. It has a sealed, waterproof housing, and flush mounts with a grommet, which is not included.

The grommet we recommend is part number A70GB. It comes in a quantity of one, so if you're looking to replace both tail lights, which is what we recommend, you'll want to pick up a second one. Let's go ahead and show you how we got it installed. First, you want to remove your old, incandescent tail light, and if you're not replacing the grommet, you'll want to leave that in position. You can simply just pull it out, or if you need to, you can use a flat head screwdriver. There we go.

Now, with our light off, let's go ahead and disconnect it. We'll just place our fingers around it here and just kind of work it loose. Now, if your wires are old and abused like ours are here, you'll want to make sure they're clean before you re-connect your new Optronics light. Then we'll grab our new Optronics LED light. It comes pre-greased. We'll line up the prongs and the tabs, and then we'll just push it in place, just like that.

Great, now let's test it out. We'll do our brakes first. Perfect. Then our turn signal. Works good. Then our tail lights.
