Review of the Optronics Mini Trailer License Plate LED Light

Today on our trailer, were going to be installing the Optronics LED Mini Trailer License Plate Light with a two diode in chrome plated, part number LPL31CB. Were going to begin here by removing the existing license plate light, and in our case its broken up. Well go ahead and drill out each of the rivets. Now because the existing license plate light only had one wire on it, were going to go ahead and pull this taillight out here to give us a little bit of access into the wiring. Now at this light removed, well go ahead and figure out which wire is you want to tie in with, and then well sniff off the wire. Well tie in one side of the wiring of the new LED light to the existing wire at the other license plate light was tied in with. Before we can do that though, were going to hold the light up and mark where we need to drill some holes.

Now the screws that come with this particular light will not work on metal. Were going to use a crew as well as the locking nut. Well drill out our holes on our trailer, then well go ahead and fit our two wires in and make our connections using a bat connector at each location. Again, well tie one side of the wiring in with the existing running light circuit that the old license plate light was tied in with. The other side well tie in with a ground wire, which in this case is one of the white wires. Now that our wirings done, we can go ahead and put our screw and our nut in the bolt locations.

Well slide the chrome cover over the plastic LED portion and install our screw in each hole, and then put the lock nut on the inside. Once thats done, well go ahead and tighten them down. Now that our new LED light is mounted to the trailer, well go ahead and put our taillight back in that we removed earlier to gain access to the wiring. Well go ahead and test it out to make sure all of our connections are good and that the new LED light is working. As you can see here, its working just fine.
