Review of the MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're doing a test fit of the Maxxtow 48 by 21 cargo carrier. That part number is MT70422. This has a weight capacity of 500 pounds and is designed to work with two-inch hitches. The first thing we're going to do while it's on our vehicle is take a few measurements. Our ground clearance here is going to be first. We're going to have about 17 inches of clearance.

Overall to our vehicle, we're adding about 26 inches. Our closest point is going to be about 3 inches away there. Now, on our Traverse, we have a single passenger side exhaust. It's kind of hidden up under our fascia so you can't really see it but it does come straight down towards the ground so you shouldn't have to worry about carrying any heat sensitive materials on your carrier at all. Next, well check our hatch clearance to make sure that we're able to open it all the way. As you can see, we don't make any contact with the carrier.

If we lower it down a bit, we'll be able to check our break over point. Just basically at anytime that you may have some cargo when it will or might make contact. We're at about 13 1/2 inches. If you have anything stacked over that, you may run into some conflicts there whenever opening your hatch. Down at our hitch, we have a hitch pin and clip that included with your carrier. Now, if you wanted something a little more stable, we do have anti-rattle devices on our website as well.

That's going to complete our look at the Maxxtow 48 by 21 cargo carrier, part number MT70422 on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or a pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action.

This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
