Today on our 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, we're doing a test fit of the Maxxtow 48 by 21 cargo carrier. That part number is MT70422. Now, this has a 500-pound weight capacity and is designed to work with two-inch hitches. First thing we're going to do is take a few measurements which it's actually on our vehicle. We're going to do our ground clearance first which is going to end up about 11 1/2 inches there. Overall to our vehicle, we're going to add about 29 inches.
Our closest point between the two where that carrier would hit first is about 6 1/2 inches there. Now, on our Pathfinder, we do have a single passenger side exhaust. It is a bit up under the fascia so you can't see it but it does come straight down towards the ground so you shouldn't have to worry about carrying any heat sensitive materials in the specific spot on your carrier. If we check our hatch clearance, as you can see, we're not going to make any contact with the car all since it does open up pretty high. If we check our break over point here, we're going to have about 23 inches. If you do have anything that's stacked very high on your carrier, you may run into some contact there, anything under that, you shouldn't have any conflict. Now, down at our hitch, we actually have a hitch pin and clip holding that in.
That is included when you purchase your carrier although we do have some anti-rattle devices available on our website as well. That's going to be our completed look at the Maxxtow 48 by 21 cargo carrier, part number MT70422 on our 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or a pothole or driving over uneven pavement.
Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
