Review of the MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be taking a look at the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier with a 60inch Ramp, part number MT70260. Let's go ahead and get you some measurements. Your ground clearance at the lowest point is going to be about 12 3/4 inches. Overall, to the vehicle length, we've added 39 and 3/4 inches. With it folded down, our closest point of contact with the vehicle is going to be about 9 and 3/4 inches. Let's go ahead and measure the break-over-point, the point in which your load is going to contact your gate. That's right about 23 1/2 inches. Now this carrier comes with an anti-rattle device, which is a collar that slips around the outside of your receiver tube and you tighten it down.

It's got a driver side exit downward facing exhaust tip that's about 22 inches away from the back of the vehicle. It should be high enough to keep your items away from the heat source. Now we can show you how the ramps work. You're going to pull your clip and your pin. You grab the handle here and you're going to slide it up. Now to put it in a stowed position for traveling with a load on there, simply place your clip in there, your pin and clip, and repeat for the other side.

Now when you're ready to put something on, you fold down your ramp, take out your pin and clip. On the backside, there's also a clip that you remove to fold out your ramp and take out your last one. Grab your handle, allow it to fold. That's going to give you a 60inch ramp. It's out of expanded metal so it's going to get good traction going up there.

These are great for wheelchairs, scooters, any kind of lawn equipment, or snow-blower. Once you're done and your loads all taken off, to fold it away in the stowed position, you're going to drop it down inside, place your pins and clips, and the clips on the back of the bi-fold part of the gate. You can come up here to the clip that goes through the rear part of your receiver tube, pull out that pin, grab it, slide it up, and you replace the pin in to the bottom. That's going to secure it from falling back. As you can see, it is pretty close to the back of the vehicle but you still have about 2 inches of clearance. You cannot open the gate when this is in the up position.

It does come with a nice black finish. That's going to do it for our look at the MaxxTow 30x50 Wheelchair Carrier with 60inch Long Ramp, part number MT70260, on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Now let's see how it does on the test course.
