Today on our 2007 Dodge Durango, we're going to take a look at the 48 by 21 MaxxTow Cargo Carrier. That part number is MT70422. Now, we already have it here on our vehicle. I'm just going to show you a few features of it. The first feature I would like to show you has the open bottom, so it's going to keep out most of your dirt and debris. It is made of a sturdy aluminum, and it can hold up to 500 pounds. What we're going to do is we're going to take a couple measurements here.
The first one will be overall distance added to our vehicle. I'm looking at 30 inches here. Now, our closest point. I'm looking at 7 and 3/4 inches, and for our ground clearance, I'm looking here at 18 inches. Now, the exhaust on a 2007 Durango is actually on your passenger's side, and it is pointing downward. It's going downward, so if you have any heat sensitive materials, you should have no problem.
You may just want to place them towards the driver's side inaudible 00:01:09. You can see that we can get in and out our hatch. We always want to talk about the breaking point when you're loading up your cargo carrier. I'm looking at 18 inches, so you might not want to go over 18 inches so you can still get in and out of your hatch as you're taking a trip or riding down the road. Now, another thing, this is equipped for 2 inch hitches only. It does come with a pinning clip, but you can also find any other pinning clips or any anti-rattle bolts and clips on our website.
So, that's going to complete our look at the 48 by 21 MaxxTow Cargo Carrier. Part number again is MT70422 on today's 2007 Dodge Durango. Let's see how it does on our test course. Here it is on our test course. First at the slalom area which simulates side to side action like turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next, on the alternate speed bumps which show you the twisting action like hitting a pot hole, road debris, or hitting a curb.
Finally, we are at the silent speed bumps which show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out your driveway.
