Review of the Longview Custom Towing Mirrors

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Longview Original Custom Towing Mirrors for the Driver and Passenger Side, part number CTM1600. This towing mirror is custom fit for many Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac models. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Now, if I take a few steps in towards my trailer as you can see there's no blind spot with the way we have it set up.

This is the view you'd get with just your factory mirror. It's not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the back side it maintains that aerodynamic shape. It's going to help reduce wind drag, noise, and vibration. The mirror itself measures about 4 1/2 inches tall by 5 3/4 of an inch wide. It's adjustable to most angles.

We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side. Measuring from the back here, overall it's 20 inches. The whole thing is made out of a durable ABS plastic with a scratch-resistant mirror face. Here on the inside the felt strip and the foam pads are going to help protect our mirror as well as maintain a snug fit. Now that we've gone over the features I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now, it's important that you start off with a clean mirror, free of any dirt or debris.

We're just going to wipe it down. Take our cleaning solution. With our mirror clean, we can go ahead and grab our new custom mirror and slide it in place. Since we're working with the driver side, it's going to be our left hand mirror. We'll take our first piece of hardware and slide it through like this.

Then I'm going to slide it on. Make sure it lines up in the front, push it all the way on. Then I'll grab my left corner bracket. I'm going to slide it on here. Take my first thumb screw. I'm not going to tighten this up all the way, just get it started. Then I'm going to take my hook, hook it onto the inside of the housing on this side. Then I'm going to put it through the hole on the top of my corner bracket here. Now, you may have to give it a little push. Once you've got it through just hold it in place, grab our other knob, and get that started. With both of our knobs in place, we can go ahead and tighten them down. Then we can repeat the same process on the passenger side. That's going to complete our look at the Longview Original Custom Towing Mirrors for the Driver and Passenger side, part number CTM1600.
