Review of the Lets Go Aero GearCage Slide-Out Cargo Carrier

Today, we'll be taking a look at the 72" x 32" Lets Go Aero GearCage FP6 Slide-Out Cargo Carrier, part number H01397. This hitch-mounted, basket-style cargo carrier allows you to carry extra gear outside of your vehicle or RV. It's also going to allow you to keep wet or muddy gear away from the interior of your vehicle. Our cargo carrier has the ability to hook up to our vehicle lights, allowing for increased nighttime visibility. Along with the lights, the two reflectors on the back of our carrier are there for added road security. We also have the option to slide our carrier out of the way, for easier access to our cargo or trunk area. We just remove our pin and clip here.

Before we slide out our carrier, we'll remove our quick disconnects here, for our lights. Then, we can pull out our carrier, and now we have full access into our back hatch or cargo area, to get anything in or out that we may need. The raised side rails on our Lets Go Aero GearCage allows for multiple, different tie-down points to secure our gear. The Lets Go Aero GearCage FP6 works with 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers and comes with an anti-rattle bolt and clip. This is going to help to keep a lot of shake and play out of the cargo carrier as you head down the road. The cargo carrier is made out of a sturdy steel construction, with a corrosion-resistant black powder coat finish and has a 300 lb weight capacity.

The outside dimensions for the carrier measure 74" wide x 34". The inside dimensions are 72" wide x 32". The Lets Go Aero GearCage FP4 is also rated for RVs, which means you can use this on your RV, motor home, or trailer. This is great compared to other cargo carriers. It's going to still allow you access into any back compartments that you may have, with the slide-out feature. Now that we've gone over some features, we're going to show you how to get this installed.

Now it may be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to install this. We're going to start by inserting our carrier into our hitch and lining up our hitch-pin holes. At this moment, you'll notice two hitch-pin holes on our carrier. This one's going to be for when you want it closer to your vehicle. We're going to use the farther back hole, just because we don't have clearance with that spare tire.

We're going to take our anti-rattle bolt, and start to insert that and tighten it down. We'll take a 7/8" socket and ratchet and tighten that down, taking all the shake and play out of the carrier, so that we have a smooth ride. Then, I'll take our clip and insert it on the other side. Last, we'll take our four-way plug and we're going to plug it in. Now that we have all of our gear loaded up and secured down, we're ready to take this out on our test course and see how it looks. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side-to-side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Once you get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway. That's going to be our completed look at the 72" x 32" Lets Go Aero GearCage FP6 Slide-Out Cargo Carrier, part number H01397.
