Today, on our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're doing a test-fit of the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack Platform Style. That part number is TS03G. Now, we have a bike on our rack, and we have the rack hooked to our vehicle. I'm going to show you a few features. Now the first feature I want to show you, with the bike on the rack, we have a tilting feature. Now, you can do it either with your hand or your foot.
I'm going to do it with my foot. I'm just going to raise these out the way, press that on there, bringing it down. Now, when the bike rack is in this position, you should be able to get into your truck bed. See, it doesn't touch, so that's always a good thing. You have plenty of room to put something in your trunk bed, and still be able to carry your tail gate.
Now we're going to bring this back up, and we always say, grab your bike rack, never your bike. Locks in position. Now let's talk about how our bike is held up. All right. Now we have our wheel hook here up front. I'll show how we disengage that and engage it.
Now back here we just have our wheel cradle, have our back tire sitting back there with a strap on it, so we're going to go ahead and remove this, set that out the way. Then you want to come up here, holding onto our bike, to disengage it, you got a black button here, you're going to press it, pull up and pull out, but to engage it, you just bring it to where you need to go. Right here in front of the forks, or right in front of the break, and just bring it down until it stops clicking. We're going to go ahead and take it off, we're going to remove our bike, set that off to the side, then I'm going to come back and replace our straps, so we don't lose it or damage it. All right.
I'm going to go ahead and bring up our wheel hook here. All right, now we're going to take a few measurements. The first measurement will be overall distance. Overall distance, I'm looking at 48 inches. Now for our ground clearance, I'm going to come back here. We're looking at 31 1/2 inches. Then for our closest point to our bike rack itself, we're looking at 9 inches here. Now, this also can fold up, so what I'm going to do now, I'm just going to press right here, push down. I'm going to do this again, step on this side. I'm going to press down, bring it up, and it locks in position. Now we're going to take a couple more measurements, so overall distance now, we're looking at 15 inches. Our ground clearance, I'm looking at 19 1/2 inches there, and our closest point, our closest point now, we're going to go with the wheel cradle here, and that's 7 inches. Now, today we're using a 2 inch hitch. This also can be adaptable to an inch and a quarter. Now, it also has a anti-rattle bolt and clip, so that's going to help keep some of the movement out of your shank as your riding down the road. That's going to complete our look at the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack Platform Style. That part number again, is TS03G, on today's 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Here it is on our test course. First is the slalom area, which simulates side to side action, like turning the corners, or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps which show you the twisting action, like hitting a pothole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally, we're at the solid speed bumps which show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage, or coming out your driveway.
