Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Inno Gravity Ski and Snowboard Carrier here on our 2017, Toyota Highlander. Now, this carrier is unique in the sense that it is a dual carrier. So you can see, they've got one set of arms on this side. You can pop those open with the button and we can slide our skis and snowboards in between these nice rubber jaws, keeping them held in place really well, but also well cushioned.
And then, if we go to the other side of our vehicle, we can do the exact same thing over there. Just a second set of these two haul even more of our skis and snowboards. Now, the reason why I like this design a lot, is because it lets you carry more without actually making it harder to get to. There are plenty of options out there for this style of carrier that have high capacities, but typically they just get longer. And the longer it gets the further in you're gonna have to reach probably getting up into the threshold here and reaching in towards the middle of your car.
This zone here is gonna be the hardest to get to. So why bother using it If you've got the whole roof rack available just use the end pieces. It's gonna be easier to get to. So personally, I like that design a lot. Now, these buttons I think could be better.
Personally, they're not my favorite. I think they're a little bit difficult to press. I like the ones on the Yakima FreshTrack better, but these still do the job pretty well. I like that these lock as well, so we can lock up our gear in the carrier, but also when that is closed, it's going to lock up the lever we use to release this. So, attaching it to our crossbars, really simple.
You just throw that lever once it's set to the right size and you're good to go. And when this is locked down, you can't open that lever. So one lock is keeping everything secure from your gear, down to the clamp on the roof rack. Now I'm actually going to go ahead and take this out so we can get a closer look inside those jaws. Now, as far as usable space goes, that's probably gonna be the most important one that you're thinking of. We can check from inside edge to inside edge here. We're gonna be looking at 14 5/8 of an inch of usable space here. So you can lay out your gear at home and see if it'll fit within this space here. Another thing to think about is added height. From the top of our crossbar to the top of the carrier is gonna be about 7 inches. Now, you just wanna keep that in mind with any sort of garages if you're pulling in there, parking garages. I don't think you'll have too many issues with this. Most of this style of carrier are pretty low profile especially when you compare it to the alternative of a rooftop box. Those typically are gonna stick up a lot more, and to get one large enough to carry your skis and snowboards, they're gonna be a lot more expensive and harder to store when you're not using them. I like this type of system a lot better because I think it's easier to manage. It's a lot more affordable and it's just gonna get the job done, just as well. Again, this was the Inno Gravity here on our 2017, Toyota Highlander. Thanks for watching..
