Review of the Hollywood Racks Baja Trunk Bike Racks on a 2017 Ford Taurus

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Taurus, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Baja 2-bike rack, part number HRB2. We have a bike already installed on our rack, so let's take a closer look, and show off some of the features. On the ends of both of our arms, we're going to have reflective material, which is going to provide better visibility at night. It does carry up to two bikes, and the cradles can be adjusted back and forth and side to side as necessary. We do have them bent inwards right now, which is going to make loading and unloading much easier to the inside. It grips your bike at three points. We'll have two straps up at the top, then one off to the side, and this is going to be an anti-sway cradle, to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, and causing bike to bike contact.Up towards the front here, we do have a stabilization strap, which can be used when both bikes are installed, you wrap it around the frames and tighten it up for stability while you drive.

You will notice, that the front wheel here does turn inward, but it does not make contact with the vehicle. If it did, what you can do, is find either a bungee chord or some sort of strap in your garage, tighten it up around this area here, and that'll keep the wheel from moving around. So, let's go ahead and take the bike off, and set it aside. Start by removing our straps. Lifting our bike up, and off. Give you a quick measurement here.

Measuring from the edge of the bumper to our outer edge, to this point here, we've added about 19 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Unfortunately, with this bike rack, it is a fixed mount bike rack, meaning you can't fold the arms down. So once it's installed, this is how it's going to look. When you are finished using it, you can use these hubs on either side to loosen it up, and fold everything flat for storage. And how it attaches to the trunk, we'll have six points of contact. We'll have two rubber coated hooks up at the top, two hooks to either side, just above the taillights, then two at the base here.

Where the bike rack does make contact with the trunk, it does have pads to ensure that the vehicle itself won't get damaged once THIS is being installed. There you have it for the Hollywood Racks Baja 2-bike rack, on our 2017 Ford Taurus.
