Review of the Gear Up Floor to Ceiling Storage Rack

Today we'll be taking a look at the Gear-Up Aluminum Floor-to-Ceiling Storage Bike Rack in Silver, part number GU10015. This is also available in black, with part number GU10025. The floor-to-ceiling mounting system is going to enable easy relocation of your rack. It holds bikes almost anywhere there is a flat, solid ceiling. It grips any surface with the padded feet. It also protects your ceiling with the foam-covered top plate. This storage system has independent adjustment components. The top and bottom extenders adjust to accommodate ceiling heights ranging from 7 feet to 11 feet.

The black PVC-coated storage arms are going to hold your bike without causing any harm or damage to your bike's frame, and they are adjustable to accommodate almost any style of bike. The light aluminum construction of the bike storage system is going to help it stand up against corrosion. The silver powder coat finish is going to help the bike storage system complement most interiors. This comes equipped with everything to hold 2 bikes, and it can hold up to 4 bikes with the Gear-Up Add-a-Bike Kit, sold separately with part number GU10030. It also comes with 2 hooks on each strap, so they're going to help stabilize the front wheel to the frame when the bikes are in a stored position. The bottom portion here of our storage rack system is adjustable, by simply loosening up the 2 Allen bolts with the included Allen key. You can slide this inside the track, up and down, to accommodate different adjustment heights, depending on the distance between your floor and ceiling.

We also have that same setup here at the top, so that we can evenly have the same amount of upper portion and lower portion when it comes to spacing out our system. Now we're going to show you how to install this. One of the first things we need to do is take our adhesive pads, and put them at the corners here of our top plate that's going to go against our ceiling. Again, this is going to protect our ceiling from any damage that the storage system may cause when fully tightened. With all that secured, we'll go ahead and put it up and show you how to install it. With our bike storage system set to the approximate distance between our floor to ceiling, we can go ahead and put it in our desired position. Now we'll come to the base and adjust our feet to finish the securing process..

We're using a 1/2-inch wrench. You can also use a crescent wrench or pair of pliers. You can see that our mountain bike has a slanted frame here at the top, the top bar. What we can do is, we can adjust our storage arms to accommodate the frame style of this mountain bike. We'll use the included Allen key to loosen up the Allen bolts here on the side. Then we can raise this up.

Once we have it in place, we can go ahead and secure it by tightening down the Allen bolts with the included Allen key. Now we'll grab our mountain bike. You can see how it keeps our bike level, because of the arm being able to be adjusted. Now we'll take our road bike, set it here on our top hooks. An accessory that goes well with the aluminum floor-to-ceiling bike storage rack is the Gear-Up Sports Equipment Bike Storage Basket. This is sold separately, and it's available with part number GU22012. It's going to hold our biking gear plus our other equipment. When installing this, you want to do so directly under a ceiling beam or crossmember. Then , for added security, you can screw in the top plate into your ceiling beam, using 2 all-purpose screws that are included. This bike storage system has a 2-bike capacity, and each set of arms has a weight capacity of 50 pounds, providing a weight capacity of 100 pounds per side, with a maximum weight capacity of 200 pounds. The rack itself weighs about 15 pounds and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to complete today's review of the Gear-Up Aluminum Floor-to-Ceiling Rack in Silver, part number GU10015. .
