Review of the Erickson Retractable, Ratcheting Tie Down Straps Review

Today we're going to be talking a look at the Erickson 15' retractable ratchet straps. They're sold in a two-pack, part number EM31325. The Erickson ratchet strap offers a 1"-wide strap that's 15' long. It has a maximum load break strength of 1,200 pounds and a safe working load limit of 400 pounds. It comes in a quantity of two and offers a 90-day warranty. This light-duty retractable ratchet strap is very easy to operate. Once you have it hooked up you'll simply pull on this end to get whatever length you need.

Then by pulling the small lever here located on each side the strap will retract. The rubber coating on the ratchet handle, as well as the release handle, provides excellent grip. It also offers vinyl-coated steel s-hooks to protect your cargo and tie-down anchors from any scuffs or scratches that you may have. The durable construction is going to offer great long-lasting performance. You have a corrosion-resistant steel body and it offers sturdy polyester webbing, as you can see, which is double-stitched at the connection locations. Now that we've explained to you a little bit about the strap, let's go ahead and show you how it works.

Just for a simple demonstration we're going to be strapping down the generator here. What we'll want to do is take our fixed end. You can identify that one by the one that's connected to the small silver ball that runs right through there. We'll connect it into our first anchor point. With that connected we simply pull whatever length of strap that we need to reach over to our second anchor point.

We'll then come over to our strap, and as you can see, we've got a little bit of slack so we'll pull and then begin, like any standard ratchet strap, clicking it down until it's nice and tight. Now we'll show you how to undo our strap. Very simple process. We'll simply reach down, press in on our black button, and move our strap all the way to that position. As you can see, it will click apart, free-wheeling the spool here. Disconnect that hook.

We'll come over here and disconnect this hook. Then the excess strap, we'll simply pull on that same lever we used earlier. Reel it right up into place and then we can push that handle back down to lock it. That's going to complete today's look at the Erickson 15' retractable ratchet straps, part number EM31325. .
