Review of the Detail K2 20x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2014 Toyota Venza

Today on our 2014 Toyota Venza we're going to take a look at the Detail K2 cargo carrier. Part number is K2HCC602. Now I already have it on our vehicle. I'm just going to show you a few features of it. Now the dimensions are 20 by 60. That's 20 by 60.

It's made out of a sturdy steel. It can hold up to 500 pounds. You see that it has the mesh bottom, so it doesn't keep any debris and dirt in and it has a nice little powder coat so it helps for rust and corrosion. So now I'm going to go ahead and take a few measurements, show you what we added to our vehicle length-wise. So we've added 34 inches to our vehicle.

Now our closest point will be 13 inches here and for our ground clearance I'm looking at approximately 11 and a half inches. Now while the cargo carrier's in this position we can get inside our hatch. I just want to show you. We also want to show you a breaking point and I don't believe we have one here, but I'm going to check anyway. So nope, we don't have a breaking point, so that's a good thing. So you'll still be able to get in and out of your hatch if- how high or how full you have your cargo carrier.

Now the one thing I do want to let you know on the Venza it has a dual exhaust, so it's coming straight out. It's coming out on the driver's side and on the passenger side, so just remember if you have any heat-sensitive material, you may want to place them toward the middle and not toward your edges. Now the K2 also folds up, so I'll just go ahead and show you that. Down here we have a pin and clip, so I'm going to pull our clip here, push in our pin. We're going to bring it up, replacing our pin clip. Alrighty.

Now let's see, overall distance has changed plus closest to our bumper has changed, so let's go ahead and do the closest to the bumper first. And I'm looking at two and a half inches here. Now overall we've added approximately 12 and a half inches also. So one other thing I just want to let you know that this does- is equipped for two inch hitches only. It does not come with a pin and clip. You can find it on our website, that is PC3. Now we also have other pin and clips or anti-rattle bolts and clips on our website. Let's see how it performs on our test course. Here it is on our test course. First is the slalom area, which simulates side-to-side action like turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps, which show you the twisting action like hitting a pothole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally we've got the solid speed bumps, which show you the up-and-down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out of your driveway.
