Review of the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R20 Slider

Today we'll be having a look at the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R20 slider, part number C16536. This is designed for trucks with a shorter than an 8-foot bed. The R20 slider gives us the ability to have our 5th wheel hitch move further to the back so we can maneuver easier. To do that, just pull back on this handle, and then you can pull your truck forward, and it slides very easily to help you make a new maneuvering position. Once you're ready to actually drive your trailer down the road, just apply your trailer brakes along your brake controller, put your truck in reverse and back up until it comes back and locks into position. The R20 sliders most often used on trucks with a 6-foot and 6 and a half foot beds. This roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow speed turns. When you're towing a 5th wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle.

However, at slow speeds, you can use a roller to slide a 5th wheel hitch and the trailer towards your truck tailgate and pass the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less restricted turning. This combination has a 20,000-pound max gross trailer weight rating and a 5,000-pound max vertical load limit. The 2 jaw locking system provides 360-degree jaw to kingpin contact. Less rattle and more security than slide bar models. It's very simple and easy to open and operate. We'll remove our pin here, fold up on this, then you can pull it back.

We have a 3-point indicator system. When it's red, it shows you're uncoupling. When it's yellow, it shows you're reading to couple. When our 5th wheel hitch will make contact with our kingpin and closing around it, you can see our indicator turned to green. Just fold this back over, and reinstall your pin and clip.

Fold that back down. Can't open your handle now. You don't have to worry about your trailer going anywhere. Now, our 5th wheel hitch and our slider are made of a sturdy steel construction and have a durable carbide powder coat finish. Out hitch has grease fittings through it. There's 3 in total that we can add grease to, so we have a durable and long life and easy to use 5th wheel hitch.

That completes our look at the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R20 slider, part number C16536.
