Review of the Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt cargo carrier, part number C18150. This carrier is a 20 by 60 expanded metal bottom, square tubular design, has a 500-pound weight capacity. Now, we're going to get some measurements. We'll start with the ground clearance. It should put you right about 14 inches at the lowest point. Now, we've added overall length to the vehicle, about 28 inches.

At the closest point of contact, we're going to be 7 1/2 inches. This will open, the gate will open with the cargo carrier on. It passes by just fine. We're going to get the break over point, the point in which your deck would contact your items. That right about 14 1/4 inches. If you have any tall or bulky items, you might have to move them out of the way to pass it.

Now, the Dodge Grand Caravan has a exhaust exit on the driver side that exits straight back. We'll get a measurement on that part. You're right about 12 1/2 inches. If you have any heat sensitive items, you may want to put them in the center or on the passenger side just to protect your items. This hitch is a two-inch receiver. It does not come with a hitch pin.

We have those available separately on our website, part number PC3. This concludes the look at the Curt cargo carrier, part number C18150 on our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Here, you'll see it out on our test course. First, we'll go through the slalom which will show you the side to side action such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Next, we'll show you the alternating speed bumps which will show the twisting action like you might see going over uneven pavement or hitting a pothole or maybe running over a curb. Last but not the least, we'll go over the solid speed bumps which will show you the up and down action such as going through a driveway or parking lot..
