Review of the Curt Hitch Bike Racks on a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on our 2016 Chrysler Town and Country, we're doing a test fit of the Curt's Premium 4 bike rack, hanging style. Part number C18064. We have a bike on the rack and we have the rack hooked to our vehicle. I'm just going to show you a few things. First thing I'd like to show you, how the bike is connected to the bike rack itself. We have a total of three straps, two up top, one to the side, what you call an anti-sway strap, that's going to keep the bike from swaying so it won't damage your car or your other bikes on here.

Let's go ahead and take the two off top first, take off our anti-sway strap, now we're going to remove our bike. I'm going to set this off to the side and I'm going to come back and replace our strap so we don't lose them or damage them. Alrighty. Now I'm going to take a few measurements. First will be overall distance. We've added 33 inches to our vehicle.

While ground clearance, I'm looking at 11 and a half inches here and for our closest point, I'm looking at 3 and a half inches right here. Now the cradle arms do come down, we have a pin and clip we need to pull here, pull out, swing it around. We insert the pin and clip. Now we take one more measurement, just for overall distance and that would be now, I'm looking at 11 inches. Now if we need to get in our rear hatch this has a tilting feature.

I'm going to pull this pin and clip here. We have a thumb screw to unscrew in the back here, pull up on the T pin, lay it down. Now when the bike rack is in this position, you see that you can get in your rear hatch, you have plenty of room to put anything in or take anything on it on both sides. Bring all this back up, see we insert the pin clip, tighten up the thumb screw in the back. Now this bike rack is for two inch hitches only.

It does come with an anti-rattle bolt so that's going to help keep some of the play inaudible 00:02:21 as you're riding down the road. That's going to complete our look at the Curt's Premium 4 bike rack, hanging style. That part number again is C18064 on today's 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. Here it is on our test course. First is the slalom area which simulates side to side action like turning the corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternate speed bumps, which show you the twisting action like hitting a pothole, road debris, or hitting a curb. Finally we have the solid speed bumps which show you up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out of your driveway.
