Review of the Curt 2-5/16 Inch Hitch Ball with 2 Inch Rise

Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt trailer ball mount. So this ball mount's a little special, and this is what makes it special. So this is actually gonna give us two inches of rise just with the ball. So if you like the ball mount that you're using, but you have a new trailer or you have a new vehicle and you don't need as much of a drop. So this one has an eight inch drop. Well, let's just say we don't wanna have to get a new ball mount.

Well, with this, now it's a six inch drop. So that's really gonna help out, and also it's going to add to the rise. So let's just say, put it on another car that's a lot lower than normal. You can flip this thing around and put it up on the top and just get an extra two inches of rise. So that's really kind of clutch because this is a very, very inexpensive item compared to some of the ball mounts that you have.

And I liked my ball, and I don't wanna have to change it, but this is gonna allow me to get the rise that I need, and that's awesome. So this is gonna be a 2 5/16th inch ball. Make sure that's gonna line up with your coupler. It's gonna have a 25,000 pound capacity, which is big. So we wanna make sure the pair this up with a pretty beefy ball mount, just because this thing's pretty, pretty beefy.

So with this, it's machined out of one piece, which is really cool. So it's not really gonna rust away as fast as some of the other ones. And also it's not gonna have that coating, which is gonna slowly start to peel away. One thing to kind of prevent this from getting all kind of gross, we do have some grease that's gonna just prevent the surface from getting scratched so much because it does have a coating that's gonna prevent it from rusting away right away. And if you put that grease on there, it's gonna keep the surface nice and smooth, and that'll just help it live a little bit longer.

We are gonna get a pretty long shank and the diameter is gonna be an inch and a quarter. So we wanna match it up with the ball mount that's gonna have that same exact diameter hole. We don't want anything smaller 'cause it won't fit. And then, of course, anything bigger, we're gonna have way too much of play. So make sure you pair it up with the right ball mount. And there really isn't a whole lot to trailer balls for your mounts, you just wanna make sure you pair them up right, of course, but also there are other ones that are gonna give us a little bit less rise and drop. So there's some that are only gonna be about an inch. Some are gonna be a little bit in between. So just kind of figure out what you're really looking for, and then look on our website 'cause we have so many options when it comes to trailer balls. So figure out what you got, figure out what you need, and then go on etrailer and we'll hook you up. That's pretty much it for our look at the Curt two inch rise trailer ball..
