Review of the Curt 24x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2015 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2015 Honda CRV we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Cargo Carrier. This cargo carrier's going to be 24 by 60 inches long, also going to offer that sturdy steel construction with that 500 pound weight capacity and a 2 inch shank, that folds for your 2 inch receivers only. Your hitch kit and clip will not be included with this so if you'd like to obtain one you can get it on our website, part number PC3. This is going to be part number C18153, let's go ahead and get it fitted on to our vehicle, and see how it looks and fits. First thing we'll do is insert that shank in to our receiver, we'll slide it in and line up our pinholes. Once you have your pinholes lined up insert your hitch pin and clip. Then we'll get a few measurements starting with our closest distance first, and with our rack in the stowed position like this, it's going to be from the front of the rack to the backside of the bumper and that distance is going to be about 7 inches.

Overall distance with it in the stowed position from the rear of the shrank it's going to be about 15 1/2 inches with a ground clearance of about 12 inches. Now you will not be able to open up your hatch at this point, so let's put it down in to the platform position so you can have access to that back hatch. Go ahead and pull out on the clip and the pin on the bottom, lower it down and then replace that pin and clip. Now let's get those measurements again. Closest distance now is going to be from the front of the rack to the backside of the bumper even though this part where the bend is in the shank will be the first place to hit if the rack did come in to far, that's going to be about 16 1/2 inches. Overall distance is going to about 41 7/8 inches, for the rear ground clearance, about 14 1/2, excuse me, 14 3/4 inches.

Now note that the exhaust does exit right here on the passenger side of the vehicle, so we'll go ahead and get that clearance for your exhaust standoff in case you're going to be carrying anything that's going to be heat sensitive, it's going to be about 23 1/2 inches, but note that it kind of does go down so it probably will clear before it hits the rack. Let's go ahead and lift up that rear hatch and see what kind of clearances we have there. Now you can see that you will be able to have full access, but we're going to bring it down, just a little bit, to see what our break-over point is, and where it's going to make contact with anything we have stored on the vehicle, and it's going to be about 30 3/4 inches before it makes contact with anything on the rack, or excuse me anything on your cargo carrier. Now you're ready to hit the road with your all new Curt Cargo Carrier, part number C18153 on our 2015 Honda CRV. Let's see how it does on our test course. Here you see it out on our test course, first is the slalom, which shows the side to side action to simulate turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next are the alternating speed bumps, which show you the twisting action such as hitting a pothole, road debris, or going over a curb.

Finally, we will finish with the solid speed bumps, which show the up and down action to simulate a parking garage or coming out of a driveway. .
