Review of the Curt Folding Aluminum Cargo Carrier

Today we're going to be taking a look at Curt's 19x60 folding aluminum cargo carrier.Now obviously a cargo carrier's going to be able to haul gear, but what's great about it is you can take the gear that would be in your vehicle, put it here on the back, freeing up space for more passengers on your adventure.Additionally, you go out on your adventure and you've got some wet and dirty gear, you don't want to put that inside your nice interior, you can throw it right here on back and it'll drip dry along the way.What sets this cargo carrier apart from all the rest is that it's made of a rust-proof, light-weight aluminum that maintains a 500 pound carrying capacity, so you can bring all of your must-have items with you.Surrounding the perimeter of our cargo carrier, we're going to have several tie-down points. You'll have four in the front and back, and two on each side. They're going to be ideal when working with hooks, straps, or bungee cords.Now with our cargo removed, we can take a closer look at some additional features. We'll begin with the mesh floor. This is nice because if it's raining outside, all that water is going to run right off and not collect, soaking whatever you have in the back here. Additionally, it makes it really easy to clean because you can just hose it off and the dirt and grime just runs right off of it.Another nice feature is that when it's not in use, it can be folded up by removing the pin, folding it upright, and then reinserting the pin.This is useful when pulling in your garage.

You don't have to remove your cargo carrier, you can just fold it up, and the door still shuts, and also for tight parking space maneuvers, and finding a good parking spot.Additionally, pre-drilled holes found on each corner for installing a light kit or reflectors for safer driving at night.And if your cargo's stacked up so high you can't see your license plate, you can relocate it using the pre-drilled holes found here at the back.The interior dimensions of our carrier are going to measure 19 and 1/8 inch wide, 60 inches across, and 2 3/4 inches tall. The aluminum frame is about a quarter inch think.Now to give you an idea of where it's going to sit when inside the hitch of your vehicle, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point, it's going to be about 10 3/4 inches. And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point, it's going to be about 30 1/2 inches.And when folded up into its storage position, it's going to be able 4 1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest point, and about 10 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point.It attaches to your hitch using a 5/8 inch hitch pin and clip.
