Review of the CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors

Today we're going to be taking a look at the CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors for the driver and passenger side, part number CM-11800. You can pick up the driver side separately with part number 11801 or you could pick up the passenger side separately with part number 11802. It offers us a wide field view. It's going to allow us to safety and easily change lanes, pass, park or even back up while towing a trailer or a camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, you can see there is no blind spot by the way we have it set up here, but this is the view you'd get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be adjusted to most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal and side to side.

It measures 6-1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide, giving us 18 inches total. With the way that it mounts around the housing on the top, on the side and on the bottom, it's not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror and we can even still fold it in. It also has cut-outs for your turn signals if you have that feature. These towing mirrors are a custom fit for your F-150. They're designed to maintain that factory look. They have an aerodynamic shape.

They're going to hug your factory mirror. All of that is going to help prevent vibration and wind noise while we're on the road. It's also going to blend in with that OEM trim. Not only can it assist you with towing but it can also help you back up to your trailer. It's a tool-free installation.

I'll go ahead and show you that now. Now that's we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now this is really very easy. It's recommended that you give your mirror a good cleaning before you slip it over. We don't want any dirt and debris to get caught underneath. When you're ready, just align the back side and then push it on like so.

Make sure it's all the way on and then we can insert the wedge on the other side. Now you're going to get two wedges and some adhesive padding. The smaller wedge here is going to be for your years 2004 to 2007. The larger wedge is going to be for your 2008 to 2014. The truck we're working with today is an '05, so we're going to be using the smaller wedge. When you put the adhesive padding on, it's going to go on like this. For demonstration purposes, we won't be putting it on. Now the wedge is going to go on in this direction. It's going to slide through the slot here. I'm going to pull the mirror back just a little bit. That way you can see how it's going to go in. It's going to slide all the way down and the curvature here is going to match the curvature of the mirror. We're just going to make sure that that's all the way on, take the wedge, slide it all the way in and then it's going to line up with the hole right here. We'll take our hand knob and tighten that down. Now there is no reason to over-tighten. Just get it nice and snug. Once you get it nice and snug, go ahead and check that mirror. Make sure it's not coming off and we're all set. We're ready to tow. We can go ahead and repeat the same process for the passenger side. That's going to complete our look at the CIPA Towing Mirror for the driver and passenger side, part number CM-11800.
