Review of the Carpod Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2016 Kia Sedona

Today, on our 2016 Kia Sedona, we're doing a test fit of the Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier. That part number is M2205. It is 23 by 47 inches, and it has a weight capacity to hold up to 450 pounds. So the first thing we're going to do with this on our vehicle is take a few measurements. Our ground clearance is going to be first, back here. We've got about 15 and a half inches. That's because near the vehicle we do have that nice raise shank that's gonna lift the carrier up higher than your hitch would.

Next, we'll take our overall measurement. We're going to have about 32 inches added to the vehicle. And our closest point is going to be about three inches away there at that raised shank. Now we have a couple different positions with this carpod. The first one, we're going to fold down our sides. So we'll just come to each corner and pull out our pins and then we'll lay down our smallest side here.

And then we'll put out these two and lay that side down as well. Now I like to kind of balance the bigger sides out. I'll grab my strap and set my pins off to the side or in my glove box or in my pocket. Wherever you won't lose them. We'll grab our strap and with the logo facing down, I'll just feed it through here.

Loosely set it on my carrier and I can fold down the larger sides and then grab my strap. And tighten it down around and that's just going to secure those in place so they don't fly up if you're not using your walls. Now we've got one more position. It's more of a close storage position if you're wanting to park in a close quarters parking spot. We'll come right here to the middle pin and clip and we'll remove that. Lift straight up on the back of the carrier and line up our pin holes at the bottom to replace our pin and clip.

Now with this in place, we can take another set of measurements. So our ground clearance back here in the back is gonna be about 10 and a half inches. Overall to the vehicle, we're adding about eight and a quarter inches and our closest point here is gonna be about three inches away to that inside area. Now with this specific carrier, the only time we can open our hatch is when we have it folded down with the walls down as well. Also, in that position, we do have a single passenger side exhaust, but it does come straight towards the ground. So, anytime we have our carrier on here, we don't have to worry about carrying any heat sensitive materials or damaging our carrier from the heat of the exhaust. Also, I'd like to point out that we do have a two inch hitch on this vehicle. That's what's going to be adaptable for this cargo carrier. And we also have a pin and clip holding that in. And that pin and clip is not included, but you can find them on our website. That part number is PC3. And we also have some anti-rattle bowl options as well. So that's going to be our completed look at the Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier. Part number M2205 on our 2015 Kia Sedona. Let's see how it does on the test course. Here, on our test course, we'll start by going trough the solemn. This is gonna show us the side to side action, which, simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, a garage, or driveway.
